The epic conclusion to Keiran: The Eternal Mage!

It’s been six months since Keiran left his greatest enemy stranded on one of Manoch’s moons, six months of feverish work preparing for the lich’s seemingly inevitable return. Keiran is gathering allies and resources, and working to strengthen himself as much as possible.

But when he hits a bottleneck just one step short of finally regaining his full power, never mind solving it before Ammun returns, he’s not sure he’ll be able to solve it, ever. Distractions abound as payments come due for past aid, an order of archmages takes an unhealthy interest in his activities, and friendships begin to fracture under the weight of both Keiran’s responsibilities and his secrets.

Can he survive the crushing weight of a lich clad in a moon’s full power bearing down on him, or will he be washed away in the flood?

A reincarnated archmage's journey to the peak–perfect for fans of The Beginning After the End, Imperial Wizard, and Birth of the Demonic Sword.

A complete, top rated novel on Royal Road with over a million views, now professionally edited and available on Amazon and Audible narrated by John Joseph Rogers and Rylee Kuberra. Buy a copy!

it is rare for me to say that I enjoyed the conclusion of a story that I liked. I often find myself disappointed in many stories endings and I am pleased to say that I am not with this one. from the first page the first book to the end of this one I have found myself engrossed in the story. I found almost every character in it to be enjoyable, if not likable. as with the other four books, my only complaints (and minor ones at that) Is that there's not enough Seneca (I'm not sure if I spelled her name right, but I trust anyone reading knows that I mean Keiran's sister) in the stories as I found her amusing, especially when interacting with Keiran. The other small complaint would be one of a personal issue as Keiran has no romantic interest in the story. I understand that the author gave and adequate and understandable reason in story for this, however I always found stories to be enhanced with a little bit of romance thrown it towards the main character. as I said, those complaints are small and insignificant. All in all a great story and great conclusion to a great series.

excellent story, satisfying conclusion

The book was a good ending to the series.

I am however not happy about there being a 40 minute prologue of another book at the end, what makes this prologue worse is that it is for book nr3 in that series. Why would you do that???
It tricks you into thinking that you have 40 more minutes left of the book to enjoy.

It was good.

it's the same as the last 4 except the end and God is it a clean ending except idk what happened to the baby brother but I may have missed that part

love a clean ending that isn't necessarily the end you could make a book 6 or spin off

When I first got this app about 6 or 7 months ago I randomly selected a book that I thought looked cool (yes don’t judge a book by its cover but what can I say it has cool art). Any ways from the first pages I knew this story was gonna be way different then anything I had read or watched previously not only because it was my first audible book but because it had such a unique and well written mc and world. Ever since finishing the first book I have looked forward to reading the next one when it released and although I’m sad to have to put an end to my first ever audible series, Im glad I chose this to be it. Truly an amazing work of fiction!

Sad to finish my first audible series but was amazing

D.E. Sherman’s Keiran: The Eternal Mage, the final installment of a five-book progression fantasy series, is a triumph of pacing, accessibility, and creative storytelling that shines as an audiobook. Following Keiran, a millennia-old archmage reincarnated into a mana-scarce world, the series blends intricate magic systems, political intrigue, and relentless action. Unlike denser fantasy epics like The Wheel of Time, Sherman’s world-building is streamlined yet vivid, offering just enough detail to immerse without overwhelming. This balance makes it ideal for audiobook listeners multitasking—whether driving, working, or exercising—as the story remains gripping and easy to follow even at half attention.

What sets this series apart is its fresh take on the overpowered hero trope. Keiran’s vast magical knowledge is constrained by a world where mana is scarce, creating unique challenges that keep the stakes high. His clever use of the series’ well-defined magic system—revealed through action rather than lengthy exposition—propels the narrative at a brisk, addictive pace. I found myself captivated by moments like Keiran’s inventive solutions to mana shortages, which felt both satisfying and original, avoiding the predictable “chosen one” arc of, say, Harry Potter. The first-person perspective, maintained throughout the series, anchors the listener in Keiran’s mind, a refreshing choice after multi-POV fantasies that can disrupt an audio experience.

As an audiobook, Keiran: The Eternal Mage excels for its clarity and momentum. The action-oriented plot, centered on Keiran’s quest to restore magic and protect his family, is perfect for listeners who, like me, juggle Audible with daily tasks. While I love curling up with a complex novel, my schedule often leans toward audio, and this series delivers a story I couldn’t pause. The relationships, particularly with Keiran’s sister, lean young adult in tone and could have been fleshed out more in earlier books to deepen emotional stakes. Some readers might find these bonds less nuanced compared to other fantasy epics or wish for more exploration of secondary dynamics, like Keiran’s connection with his golem. Yet, for me, the streamlined relationships kept the focus on the thrilling story arc, and Keiran’s family-driven motivations felt genuine by the series’ end.

Compared to Terry Goodkind’s intricate worlds or Robert Jordan’s exhaustive descriptions, Sherman’s series is a leaner beast, prioritizing action and accessibility without sacrificing depth. This makes it a standout for fantasy fans seeking a binge-worthy listen that respects their time. I’d happily revisit these books, whether on Audible or in print, and give Keiran: The Eternal Mage a well-earned 5 stars for its balance, originality, and sheer fun. If you crave a fantasy that pulls you in without a notebook for note-taking, this series is a must-listen.

Action-Packed Pacing and a Fresh Hero

The only thing i have to say besides perfect is that i wish there was also a closure on the other sub-plots and "main" secondary characters.
Maybe it's because i love stories that actually end and detail an ending bjt i feel like a paragragh for each would really make this story 100/100 instead of 97/100.
Really loved the story regardless.

Awesome and sad it ended

Honestly this grew into one of my favorite stories. The MC is competent and a joy to follow. The world building is also great and easily leaves room open for more stories in the world.

Fantastic conclusion

Just what you'd expect from the previous books in the series, I enjoyed this audiobook. I do feel like the protagonist should have been a bit more prepared for the big fight, but it's not a surprise considering previous books. I'm sure it was done that way just to add extra tension, but it's transparent.

P.S. to the publishers, I don't like "bonus chapters" from other books at the end, it's disingenuous on the audiobook runtime. Plus the bonus chapter was for the third book in a series, that doesn't even make sense. And in fact I will never buy that book now, well done.

A good ending

Every book in this series has been an absolute banger and while I'm sad to see it come to an end, I couldn't have asked for a better ending. This series is a gem and I cant wait to see what the author creates for us in the future 🙌

Amazing end to an amazing story
