More Monster Hunter goodness
This was a great addition to the Monster Hunter series 5)2 cryptozoologist in me loved learned about European monster lore. I don’t know what other reviews were talking about when they said there was no action. It has plenty, maybe not as much as the main line books but it’s expressed multiple times that Europe handles situations more subtly than the US.
If you liked the main line books you’ll enjoy this one as a well. Plus Stephen Thorne is always a treat to listen to.

I really enjoyed this!
I've always known that MHI was "international", as it is in their name, but I really enjoyed learning about other monsters local to their regions. I hope they do more like this.

Confused
I love MHI and all the worlds. This one was not my cup of tea. The narrator did not put me to sleep but I could not tell the difference from one character to the next. I was looking forward to a MHI book but it felt like a brand new series.

not nearly as good as the other monster hunter stories
missed the original narrator and the stories were just lacking the entertainment value of the other stories

Decent but not as great as previous in the series.
The stories were good but there were issues that bugged me. There were obvious translation and conversation issues. For example I think at one point a haunted mansion was described as 400 square feet - that's tiny one room cabin size - not muti level mansion. There were also some issues with the cut off the audio - the narrator can be heard breathing and lip smacking in a couple parts. These issues didn't happen often but maybe 5 to 10 minutes in total - so i didn't take off many stars.

Decent short stories but the narrator ruined them.
A decent mix of short stories from the MHI world, all from the perspective of Eastern European hunters, and with the help of Eastern European authors.
Unfortunately, the narrator does not even attempt an accent. He barely lightens his voice for the female characters, and does little to differentiate all the other voices. It gets confusing when every character sounds like the same forty something American guy.
A good narrator should have a distinct voice for each character; it helps the listener visualize the story.
Mr. Thorne needs to take some time and learn from the greats like Jim Dale, Sean Runnette, and RC Bray. He needs to become a voice actor and not just a guy who can read in front of a microphone.

It’s ok, but not a typical MHI story
These stories are based on Eastern European folklore. While interesting they take some searching on the internet to understand what is being talked about. Only true diehard MHI fans can get into it.
