Acerca de esta escucha

Vampires, ghosts and death itself - from the international bestselling author of The Atlas Six, Masters of Death by Olivie Blake is a spellbinding queer fantasy.

'Olivie Blake is a mind-blowing talent' - Chloe Gong, author of These Violent Delights

This book is about an estate agent. Only she’s a vampire, the house on sale is haunted, and its ghost was murdered.

When Viola Marek hires Fox D’Mora to deal with her ghost-infested mansion, she expects a competent medium. But unbeknownst to Viola, Fox is a fraud – despite being the godson of Death.

As the mystery unfolds, Viola and Fox are drawn into a quest that neither wants nor expects. They'll need the help of a demonic personal trainer, a sharp-voiced angel and a love-stricken reaper. And it transpires that the difference between a mysterious lost love and a dead body isn’t nearly as distinct as you’d hope.

'If you enjoyed Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens, you will adore this book'- Starburst Magazine

I Didn't want it to END!!

Really enjoyed this story and the characters were all so entertaining and had their own complexities and games. My favourite narrator Steve West brought each character to life for me and death just made me want to Laugh!!

Not for me

The relief I felt by the time I finally finished listening to this book was indescribable. Too many characters, too many accents and a “plot” that went on FOREVER while at the same time didn’t manage to actually go anywhere or result in anything meaningful. I also happened to find the writing incredibly condescending and the characters all annoying. Blake’s version of Death ends up coming across like a badly copied one from Terry Pratchett. Someone else on Goodreads said it was like reading about a bunch of bickering squirrels with increasing angst and I couldn’t agree more. I was left frustrated throughout the whole book hoping that the ending would at least tie things up nicely, but I was left disappointed. This book seems to fall into the genre some people seem to enjoy that I call: No Structure, no development; just a bunch of characters talking too much and not doing anything. And the repetition of the same MEANINGLESS dialogue that also went nowhere drive me insane. “There is a game the immortals play. It has no rules. Only one. Don’t lose..blah, blah, blah” over and over again! I won’t be picking up anything by Olivie Blake again, and unless you enjoy senseless and endless rambling in your books I wouldn’t recommend it.
