Who said you can't rebuild after a nuclear war?

I thought volunteering to be put into cryostasis for three days would be a great way to make some extra cash. Apparently, the rest of the world thought it would be a great time for an all-out nuclear war.

Destruction was unleashed on such an incredible scale they say the very laws of physics changed. Now, massive mutants roam the city, looking for something—or someone—to eat. Violent gangs fight for control of the city's remains. Strange, human-animal hybrids are now part of our struggling societies. And perhaps strangest of all, magic is now real. Yeah, I'm still trying to process that one.

But it wasn't all bad. A small society took me in and taught me to survive. They gave me hope for a future. In fact, I've decided to start my own settlement, and I'm going to use all that I've learned to make it into a fortress. I wasn't going to let something like nuclear annihilation get me down. I was going to survive, and maybe find a good woman or two to keep me warm at night.

Or, you know. At least until the mutants show up. Then, it's time to fight.

Good

I like the concept and its a fun read with enough pace to keep me engaged but not drag things out

Damn!!

I was 100% sure I wasn’t going to like the MC in this book because at first he just seemed like a playboy that girls just randomly flock to for no reason. Then when things got going I actually started to like him.

The build up to the bombings with talks of war in the background was amazing and I love that the MC isn’t a badass but he’s trying.

Also I really hope we see Sharg again. Hopefully she’ll join the harem

The story

The story is up there as one of the best well written fantasy apocalypse stories I’ve listened to

Fun entertaining book.

Good solid plot pacing character development and introduce interesting world scenario and settings and realistic Beast building and survival ties in many parts. Can't wait for the next block..

buying this book was a chance im glad I took. its a refreshing change of pace and I love the post apocalyptic survival / fortress building trope.

Fallout 3 with added mutations

The story has everything I love about the post-apocalyptic genre, Settlements, Factions, Mutants, Raiders, and more.

Not too shabby

Pretty decent first book in series. Looking forward to new LIs joining the series and threats emerging that we have heard about.

A unique look at a post apocalyptic Tail of a man after a nuclear war

Amazing

The author did a good job with the story line. I think the locations being described before and after the bombing was amazing and helped with setting up a visual. being from Maryland and Baltimore I found it great to have the series based in area I could recognize and then imagine what might look like for the characters.
