WEAK and BAD ending

Very disappointed in the ending, I thought Alex was stronger than than this and overall deserved better.

painful read

This is a hard book to read..and this isn't the first time I have read it. Sam is a disgusting excuse of a human being...anyone who is capable of that kind of cruelty can never be trusted fully...if this was a real life story he would break her heart fully in the end and that is sad. This paints a picture of a very weak woman in my opinion. I will say that the book kept me hooked despite all that...just wish she would have made a different choice...which in all honesty should have been her learning to love herself by herself.

Wonderful story

This was a beautiful story and well read by the narrator. Delightfully pleasing as are all of her books.

Hooray for the ***Hole!

It’s the first time I’ve been surprised by a Daniel Steele book. I’m very disappointed that the philandering husband triumphs. What the heck?!!!

Disappointing and cliché

The audio reader was fine, they did a good job there. The book itself is not good. I’m surprised this was written by a woman, as the female main character is written flatly and follows disappointing tropes of emotional weakness and unbelievable graciousness to her abusers in the name of “TrUe LoVe.” Its obvious this is meant as an earnest happy ending too- as opposed to a sad ending about Stockholm Syndrome. I know the other trope of knowingly creating the ending that readers will disagree with make big bucks, but when it’s done at the cost of stereotyping women as forgiveness machines that exist to aid in the life lessons of poorly behaving men, it really comes off as insulting.
