What does it mean to be a disciple? The call of discipleship is more than programs and Bible study. In King Jesus and the Beauty of Obedience-Based Discipleship, David Young presents a bold call for obedience-based discipleship and argues that it alone is the proper response to the kingship of Jesus. Many have wrongly associated obedience with bad theology, believing that Jesus' demand for obedience is a form of works righteousness or legalism. Others simply don't like obedience and resist the demands Jesus makes in calling us to follow him.
But if we surrender to the kingship of Jesus, we will find the life we were designed to live. We are accustomed to calling Jesus "Savior". And we should. But until recently, many in the Western church have not learned to call Jesus "King".
The kingship of Jesus has implications for how we live. We can either rebel against him, raising puppet kings and constructing our own kingdoms, or we can submit to him in obedience-based discipleship. Could it be that you are still sitting on the throne of your life, treating King Jesus as a mere advisor? What would change in your life if you started treating Jesus as nothing short of your King?
Young unpacks five principles for those who wish to follow Jesus as King.
- Surrender to the authority of King Jesus
- Embrace the mission of King Jesus
- Live immersed in King Jesus

Behold our King Jesus! Excellent audio book!
What an amazing book! This was such an easy-to-listen-to audio book and challenged my walk with Christ in so many ways. David Young presents and breaks down “the great commission” from Jesus in a way that helps us better understand who Jesus is and who we should be as His disciples. To soak this in and live it can transform your life. It will help you grow as a follower of Jesus. It has sure helped me! I wish every Christian would listen to this! I wish every unbeliever would listen to it and come to know Jesus as King. Well done! Highly recommend!!

I've listened over and over
This is an excellent book on how to give up your own selfish ways and become a happy instrument of God's Power. I have liked the reader's voice and the writer's stories. If you know God and have experienced His miracles in your life and you want to tell people about Him, this book is lovely. It explains the difference between teaching the bible and becoming true friends with people and being an example to them. Its been a blessing to listen to it many times.

Behold King Jesus
This is an amazing book! It explains so much. But the last chapter about seeing Jesus work subtly and how He involves others in the "miracle" is tearfully joyous!
