Acerca de esta escucha

Librarian Syd Murphy flees the carnage of a failed marriage by accepting an 18-month position in Jericho - a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Her plans to hide out and heal her wounds fall by the wayside as she gets drawn into the daily lives of the quirky locals. She becomes fast friends with Maddie Stevenson, the enigmatic physician who has returned to the backcountry community to take over her late father's medical practice. Together they learn that life and love can have as many twists and turns as a country road.

Smart, complicated and not one to put down

Story so believable. Characters very well developed. The author makes sure you can see and smell this place. Narrator also A+. There is a gay thread to the story but that isn’t the strength of it. It is about a place and the people who live and live there

The kiss is worth the wait

I often think "I'll bet it wouldn't be too hard to write one of these" after reading or listening to a romance novel. I know better, but still it can't be too difficult to match your run of the mill romance. I know for an absolute fact that I could never hope to write something of Jericho's caliber.

Ann McMan does an excellent job of building her romance and the world its set in. The coming out story is realistic and well timed and once the hot make out sessions begin they just don't stop. Supporting characters are well thought out and will be sure to play important roles in subsequent books.

That being said. It's a long book and it could have been longer. The stalker issue could have been stretched out a bit more but I'm glad it wasn't. And the Henery character has a heavy dose of "and a miracle occurs" applied. I'm not sure how he's going to play out and I'm not sure he added much to the story.

All in all It's worth the credit. And if your an aspiring romance novelist this is the type of writing you should strive for.

Great book.

This was actually a good story. It had it's cheesy moments... but I found myself laughing, wanting to cry and feeling emotions right along with the characters. The author did a great job of creating the people and story... and the Narrator just added that much more to it. The cherry on top so to speak. If you're looking for a Story.... Start here!! just finished this one and already downloaded Aftermath!!! Hope it is as good as this one.

Lovely escapism

Loved this story and the two books that follow. Pure escapism and a lovely way to spend the lockdown. Hoping that the next book comes out soon.

Jericho

Jericho is one of the longest lesfics I have ever read, but it kept me interest the whole way. I enjoyed the main characters, and am including the best friends and parents in with the mains. They played off each other very well, and their dialog developed the story nicely. I wish there had been more input from the townsfolk; I see them as an untapped resource, and hope to see more of them in the sequels. The sex scenes were hot without going overboard and getting awkward. There were scenes of conflict and action, which I enjoyed.
I originally started listening to the audiobook version of Jericho, but had to switch to reading, because the narrator made Maddi sound like the somewhat feminine version of Thurston Howell the Third (Gilligan's Island).
I definitely look forward to reading the remaining books in this trilogy.

Ok

Overall, it was alright. I personally felt that way too much of the book was taken up by sex but that's just my taste.
My only peeve was the medical side of it, which is what drew me to the book in the first place. Most of the stuff seemed fine/ accurate. But with the one critical patient, I had to wonder if the author did any research or just based it on a bad TV show. A trauma patient that she determines is in "sinus arrhythmia" by listening and then that she must trach him because of it. With a plastic straw? That produces a hissing sound when inserted? Then administers subq heparin to help this bleeding trauma patient?? Who she then auscultates going into "V Tock"???? I try not to be a snob about medical entertainment being 100% accurate but WHAT?!

Nice escaping, nothing more

The title of my comment says it all. At least the author tried to dive into the confusion between desire (doomed without)/feelings. I liked the 2nd roles in this “movie novel”. I still long for a true love story that doesn’t imply “beautiful/extra-clever/ extraordinary people”. The Price of Salt is unmatched.
narrator: not bad (except her rendition of Maddy)

LGBT Novel

I do not judge others for their preferences. But I would not have chosen this book if I had known it was about lesbian love. Again, it is not because I am hating on gay people, I just prefer novels about strait couples love!
