narrator does a solid job

The story is kinda meh and the ending is unsatisfying. it seems like it is going to go in a lot of interesting directions, but doesn't. The Pram is much better.

Unpleasant and Dull Story

I enjoyed the previous short stories from this author, but this one fell flat. The lead character had too much drama that detracted from the story and the tree wasn't that frightening. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was so dull and boring that this story just did not work well.

If you want a really good story about an awful tree, try Sightings: Polynesian Rakau Tira by J.F. Rodo Rome. Far more frightening than this tree could ever be. It's an entire series of scary goodness few have heard of.

The Lorax goes Postal

Loved the narration and the originality of the story. Like a creeping scarecrow in the field finding its next victim.

Fizzled out

I loved the creepy vibes and the setting. As the story progressed, I found it hard to stay engaged with the audiobook, which is not good for a such a short story.

Interesting premise

The is short story is missing a few essential components but provides an intriguing plot nonetheless. I could’ve done with fewer awkward descriptions, Joe hits all the same notes as his father but it just doesn’t hit home here.

Twists and Turns

Always liked Joe Hill’s writing; Long or short story. His style ranks up with the best sci fi/horror/suspense writers.

Muy entretenido, me mantuvo atenta a la historia y armando distintos escenarios en mi cabeza. No fue predecible.

Great story

Joe Hill is full of great ideas! He takes a simple idea and weaves a tale of intrigue revolving around a tree.

Not Joe's Best

overall, I feel that the story was not Joe Hill at his best. Actually not even a great concept. However, I might’ve enjoyed it more if the narrator had been better. Almost his entire delivery was sort of “punchy“ and a bit overly dramatic.Not a fan of this narrator.

In general, I think Joe Hill has done much better work.

Decent short story. I wish it was longer

This is a very short story but it has a decent premise and I believe the storyline could've been longer and given us a much more in depth story. Aside from it being a short story, I very much enjoyed this story and believe I will have to try to read more books by Joe Hill.
