Acerca de esta escucha
One of the biggest hurdles people over 50 have to overcome is the mindset about their age. There’s an old cliché of “age ain’t nothin’ but a number.” But as we all know, getting older does have certain obstacles such as dwindling health, limited income, and the end of long-time careers followed by “now what in the heck do I do?"
Yes, age is the number of candles on a birthday cake, and a stark reality of things to come. But getting older isn’t
- a deal breaker
- a reason you can’t start a business or any other new venture
- a limit on success
- a valid excuse for inaction
- a valid excuse to give up on your dreams.
Here are 50 people who overcame the very same things you are facing right now. Let them show you the way to outrageous success and happiness regardless of your age or circumstances.

Without the cooperation of your subconscious - the deep recesses of your inner self - change can be difficult to impossible. You might consciously have tried to lose weight. But if your subconscious mind was fixated on fattening food and how difficult exercise was, the experience was probably a challenge or a dismal failure. Therefore, changing one or more aspects of your life can’t occur until you affect change on your subconscious.

Historia
At age 50, Maria Leonard Olsen drank her way out of her 25-year marriage. She had, against advice, put all her eggs in the motherhood basket, willfully derailing her successful law career. As teenagers, her precious children did not need her in the hands-on way they previously had. Her husband and she had grown apart because, among other things, they failed to nurture that important relationship. When she turned 50, she had the distinct feeling that she was on the downward slope of her life. So when she turned 50, her gift to herself was to make the most of whatever time she had left.

Studies keep showing that love after 50 is more satisfying than at any other stage in life, and it makes sense: At this stage, you are more emotionally stable and more focused on the present; you know what you absolutely have to have, but also what you can live without; partnering is no longer about building family and fortune — it’s about sharing intimacy as grounded individuals. And sex isn’t pass/fail anymore, but about becoming erotic friends.

The Myth: If you get into a good college, study hard, and graduate with excellent grades, you will be pretty much set for a successful career. The Reality: The biggest thing you won't learn in college is how to succeed professionally. Some of the smartest, most successful people in the country didn't finish college. None of them learned their most critical skills in an institution of higher education. And like them, most of what you'll need to learn to be successful you'll have to learn on your own, outside of school.

Not everyone is blessed with exceptional intelligence, or wins the gene lottery. What if the smartest people in the world understand something that the rest of us don't? (They do.) What if they know that in order to achieve success, they will sometimes have to do things that others may initially perceive as stupid? The fact of the matter is that the smartest people in the world don't run from stupid, they lean into it (in a smart way). In The Power of Starting Something Stupid, Richie Norton redefines stupid as we know it, demonstrating that life-changing ideas are often tragically mislabeled stupid.

For more than a century before gay marriage became a hot-button political issue, same-sex unions flourished in America. Pairs of men and pairs of women joined together in committed unions, standing by each other "for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health" for periods of 30 or 40 - sometimes as many as 50 - years. In short, they loved and supported each other every bit as much as any husband and wife. In Outlaw Marriages, cultural historian Rodger Streitmatter reveals how some of these unions didn’t merely improve the quality of life for the two people involved but also enriched the American culture.

Inspiring!
This helps you to move beyond a limited mindset which leads people to define themselves too strictly by their age. i loved the real life stories and it motivated me to make my dreams come true!

Inspiring book for those who want to quit at 50!
I loved how the stories of those who succeeded after 50 where put together, and what lessons we should learn from each of them.

Positive Thinking Gospel
I have mixed feelings about Gildan Media’s gospel of positive thinking titles. I listen to them because every now and again they will publish something I really like.
This book is not one of them. It has a nice message, but, frankly I muscled though it for just in case there would turn out to be something interesting in it.
I’m glad it is finished. I am happy to leave this book to others who will appreciate it.
