How to love the bible again

As someone who has been lukewarm on faith, and much more ready to criticize the churches failings than point out it successes in recent years, this book feels like a path back to loving scripture. The book is incredibly thoughtful and well researched, and you can feel the humanity of the author struggling with the text. I will definitely be reading this again and recommending it to everyone who will listen!

What will you receive? You’ll only find out if you ask. Courage is required for this task, and the gift may not be what you wanted or expected. In fact, it will probably be neither. But perhaps you will receive another tiny puzzle piece in this great mystery we all walk in. Perhaps, it will only lead you to the next question you must ask. It is a worthy endeavor. Keep going. And probably read or listen to this book along the way.

Beautifully inspiring and heart wrenching.

Hearing Rachel’s voice talking about the future of her son’s life was an incredible climax!! I loved her citing of Scripture throughout the book as she gave permission to ask the tough questions. This book strengthened my relationship with Jesus!!

Relatable, honest, eye-opening, and funny too!

Loved this book so much! Rachel's storytelling, articulation and comedic timing make this one hard to put down/pause. I highly recommend it!

A Beautiful New Perspective

This story was well thought out and written, compelling, and compassionate. I particularly liked the way she told some of the old stories with updates or in first person making them hit much closer to home.

Inspired me

I don't know if comforting is what Rachel was attempting, but it was one of my take aways. Faith inspired creativity is something I was always discouraged from, but something I always leaned towards. This book, in my opinion, wasn't something to necessarily further a better understanding of the bible text in some eye opening way. It is more an instruction by example to give yourself permission to self explore the bible to wrestle with difficult stories, find adventure with a individual flavor and seek room for your own unique story.
