Steve felt he had a story to tell, as his life has been pretty fantastic. Imagine, as a director, his first multi-camera shoot was Michael Jackson, having a 'smoke' with George Michael by his pool in the Maldives after filming his show or being the DJ at Wembley Stadium and changing the face of pre-match entertainment.
This is an honest and intimate piece of writing. It's a fascinating journey through decades of British pop culture and a very personal, heart-on-sleeve reflection on relationships, entrepreneurship and the richness of life.
Every chapter is named after a song, and they are songs that those of us who lived through the '80s and '90s will remember with much affection.
For Steve, it's been quite a ride, and this is a great reflection of a life well-lived.

If You Were There, You’d Still Want to Read This.
I’m still amazed Steve found time to write this book between perfecting his golf game and explaining why his music taste is better than yours, but nevertheless he did it. I’ve known Steve Kemsley for over 12 years, and while I thought I knew his story, his book proved me wrong in the best way. “If You Were There You’d Know” brought me to tears, made me laugh out loud, and while listening to the audio book, even caused a near-miss on the road. Steve’s vivid storytelling reveals his rich background, his incredible love and knowledge of music, and the philosophies and connections that have shaped his life and career. Whether you’re a longtime friend or a new reader, this book is an inspiring and entertaining journey worth taking.
