I love the author"s vivid imagery.
I enjoy going to these places with the author. Just the right amount of fiction and facts. My granddaughter is 9 years old. She is resistant at first, but I told her you have a movie behind your eyelids. I turn the audible book on and remind her to just listen and she'll see the book like her own private movie. I will too. about half hour in she falls asleep. Several times she has woken early to listen to the book.

I loved the book
The book was great.
I like the main character a lot and I liked his Pop too. I think you put great detail into the book. I loved the ending.

Virtue and science for kids
The story weaves in elements of scientific observation that was in its infancy during Roman times, and was rare. However, moderns will approve if children in the audience receive a positive characterization of thinkers who were radical for that time. Another modern element is the characterization of barbaric slavery and gladiatorial violence.

This book is OK.
