YA, but a good book all the same
The book started out with the MC being stupid, but after that returned to his normal. rationality.
I enjoyed the story. It’s not the best I have ever read, but it is far from the worst. It would be 4 stars except the author had to make the MC do something stupid to set up the rest of the story.

Action and pirates with still good morals.
The characters were colorful and realistic. So many cliffhangers and surprises! The cliffhanger was the best ever and the character development makes me hoe some of those characters are seen again.
