Excellent Resource

I work in schools & I'm always looking for a passable book to help people understand the students we work with- they are difficult to find. Nothing brings as many questions from parents or staff as much as autism because there are very few set rules or answers This book is friendly, enjoyable, and a great resource. Much more than information- insightful. I will be happily recommending it to anyone who will listen.

Easy Listen and very helpful

I really enjoyed this book. The author mostly recounts personal experiences and writes them in a light-hearted and fun way. The narrator has a great choice but the s-sounds and occasional pops of her p-sounds is a little annoying.

This book is so easy to understand and well written. It has so many good examples and references that I’m re listening to it and writing down key parts!

Best Actionable Advice

I found this book upon recently learning that my child is Autistic. It is full of practical advice, which I have already implemented with positive results. However, I was recently informed that this book is outdated, being DSM 4 instead of DSM 5. The term Aspergers has been retired. I was then recommended the book Unmasking Autism by Devon Price as a superior book. I shouldn't have listened. Price's book is political propaganda about how we need to change society to accommodate people on the spectrum better. Even if I agreed with that idea, which I don't, there's no way such a task could be completed in time to help my daughter learn to interact with the world. Stick with Myers' book. I have completed it once, and I expect to return to it many times as a refresher.
