Great story, narrator was trash
Plenty of narrators struggle with opposite gender voices. But this was terrible to listen to. Some of.the male characters sounded like they had suffered a lung shot for the entire book. Cringe.

An excellent story of a traditional Commisar.
While I love the story and characters, and the narrator's performance was exemplary, I found this book a little bit of a slog. A bit too much of, 'he said, she said' style dialogue made it bothersome. that said, I've seen some of Rachel Harrison's newer stuff and that little problem has been addressed. I do hope to see more of Raine and her Rifles in the future, as I did very much love the characters.

Excellent Warhammer mil-fic with a gripping plot
A gripping plot with excellent characters. The storytelling is good, descriptions get a bit repetitive towards the end, but that’s with most Black Library productions. Perhaps due to hurried production at the end of projects to get them out in time? Anyway, a good listen that I strongly recommend.
