Acerca de esta escucha

Ancient cultures looked at the human voice as the link between the inner and outer psyches. The voice was viewed not only as an instrument of self-expression but also as a powerful means of self-alignment.

Healing Yourself with Your Own Voice is about rediscovering the natural power of the human voice and its role in establishing a balanced, healthful life. Don Campbell, founder of the Institute for Music, Health, and Education, and author of the national best seller The Mozart Effect®, leads you through step-by-step exercises to demonstrate how different sounds affect the brain and the body. Exercises focus on the alignment of mind, body, and voice; an inner massage; and much more.

Short audiobook packed with juicy info

Sound, has always been of interest to me; my sound, my voice, how it can influence my quality of life and the path it’s headed in.

In this short yet info filled audio book the author does a great job of sharing his experience of how sound is able to completely change people’s lives; specifically, our voice. He shares examples of people and how the use of sound was able to, in different ways, transform them. Stories of empowerment, healing, and discovery all here.

If you’re curious about voice and its power, this is a very good audiobook to consider buying. The author’s voice, experience, and story telling style will keep you listening as well as engaged.

Are you looking for something different on the cutting edge of scientific exploration and discovery, that can potentially impact you for the better? Get this audiobook.

Yes!

First off, I want to say that the authors voice is absolutely beautiful and enticing. It becomes clear from the first few words spoken that he knows his voice and that he has command over it to express any emotion he chooses with great conviction. My natural musician ears spent an hour of delight, listening to this recording!
I also came to realize that I myself am actually not as much of a beginner in this art of self healing through sound, as I would have make myself believe. We all have, since we were born, used the skill of making sound for manipulating our perceptions, our feelings, our health, our energy levels, intuitively. In this, unfortunately very short, presentation, Dan Campbell himself, reminds us how to utilize these natural skills for our own health and mood and energetic balancing. It is a fun demonstration, delivered with ease and some light humor peppered in here and there.
I enjoyed every part of it, the only thing I would like to see changed, is the stretches of silence, where the listener is encouraged to do an exercise, and then return to the text at hand. I think it would be more useful to ask the listener to push the pause button, do the exercise, and then resume. I cannot really see the usefulness of having stretches of blanks inside an audible book.
It would also be useful to the customers to indicate that this is a initiatory level of presentation, very much like a first introduction to the concept of sound as a healing vehicle.
And as such, it might certainly induce many listeners to begin their own journey of discovery of the power of their own voice.
If you found my review, helpful, thank you for letting me know.

I am not wholly impartial, but I did love it

I am normally somone who does not like over the top, but I have to disagree with the reviewers who thougth the narration got in the way of the story. I completely disagree. As I said I'm not wholly impartial as a reviewer, because I am the audiobook producer in this case. But again, I normally go for a very nuanced read, but the language, rhythm and voices in Kevin's book are so delightfully fun and larger than life, that I felt Jing Lusi brought the moments to absolute perfection in ways that noone else could. She has an understanding of the authentic culture clash within the Britrish Asian monarchy in general. I found the jokes landed with aplomb and her voices and dialogue to be maybe so on the nose that some found it hard to let it be. That's the only thing I can think. I think underplaying these characters would have done a disservice to Mr. Kwan's brilliant and momentous dialogue and descriptions. It reminded my of the billiant dialogue in the movie The Menu, which has nothing to do with Asian British monarchy but contains social commentary on the uber rich. It's ok to have fun and go over the top when it's so brilliantly written. But I am grateful for the feedback and will take into consideration for future casting of this series. I still think Jing Lusi was billiant and I laughted out loud and even felt love for many of these characters throughout the listen. I felt like I was traveling around the world with them and I was totally out of my element. Perhaps if you're too close to the culture, it would sting? I don't know... tell me more. I'm totally curious. Yours in art and creativity.
