One of my dad’s favorite jokes about getting older was: “I went out for coffee when I was twenty-one and when I got back I was fifty-eight!”

I get what he meant now. Time flies. My first book, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie Actor, was published back in 2001 and it chronicles the adventures of a “mid-grade, kind of hammy actor" (my words), cutting his teeth on exploitation movies far removed from mainstream Hollywood.

This next book, an “Act II” if you will, could be considered my “maturing years” in show business, when I began to say “no” more often and gravitated toward self-generated material. Taking stock in the overall quality of my life, I fled Los Angeles and moved to a remote part of Oregon to renew, regroup and reload.

If that sounds tame, the journey from Evil Dead to Spider-Man to Burn Notice was long, with plenty of adventures/mishaps along the way. I never pictured myself hovering above Baghdad in a Blackhawk helicopter, facing a pack of wild dogs in Bulgaria, or playing an aging Elvis Presley with cancer on his penis - how can you predict this stuff? The sheer lunacy of show business is part of the fun for me and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

everything I hoped for

So happy I found this! a great sequel to "if chins could kill" any Campbell fan can't go wrong here.

Another great book by Bruce!

Awesome follow up book to his first. Great stories of one of the hardest working, self starters and his motley band of friends!

as good as the first.

As a card carrying pro actor myself I dig Mr. Campells writing and stories about the industry. My favorite acting memior/instruction Manuel about How to on camera act is Michael Caines On Acting. These books are the adventures of Bruce Campbell. less instruction more fun.

I would love to read about the making of Ash vs. Evil Dead. Mr. Campbell can you please write another book. Pretty please?

Great narration by the author

A fun worthy follow up to Bruce Campbell’s original memoir. The narration, by the author, couldn’t be better. Bruce Campbell Takes you through a fun and entertaining tale of the evil dead, rural Oregon, Burn Notice, visiting the Troops, proper road grading technique & the secret life of essential oils.

Finally, I Can Relate

All of Bruce’s stories of his life, making popular entertainment, are always interesting. This time however, it was fun to hear his personal side as a middle-aged guy with all the typical middle-aged problems.

In other words, this book is probably appreciated more by those of us closer to his age. Though the tales of his movies and TV shows are interesting, there isn’t as much detail on the ins and outs of a typical shoot that one may want. He does spend more time, however, detailing his personal life — jury duty, car accidents, dealing with locals, and buying his house in Oregon. Not the most exciting material, but relatable.

If you love Bruce Campbell, this one is for you. If you don’t know him well, I doubt there would be anything here that would enlighten you as to life in Hollywood. His career is described far more generally than that.

This is probably the most entertaining audiobook out there. I love all of the stories and memories that Bruce shares.
