Historia
Rick's never questioned much. He's gone along with his best friend Jeff even when Jeff's acted like a bully and a jerk. He's let his father joke with him about which hot girls he might want to date even though that kind of talk always makes him uncomfortable. And he hasn't given his own identity much thought, because everyone else around him seemed to have figured it out.

Sam is very in touch with their own queer identity. They're nonbinary, and their best friend, TJ, is nonbinary as well. Sam's family is very cool with it... as long as Sam remembers that nonbinary kids are also required to clean their rooms, do their homework, and try not to antagonize their teachers too much. The teacher-respect thing is hard when it comes to Sam’s history class, because their teacher seems to believe that only Dead Straight Cis White Men are responsible for history.

Jilly thinks she's figured out how life works. But when her sister Emma is born deaf, she realizes how much she still has to learn. A big fantasy reader, Jilly connects with another fan, Derek, who is African American and a deaf ASL user. She goes to Derek for advice but doesn't always know the best way to ask for it and makes some mistakes along the way. Jilly has to step back to learn to be an ally, a sister, and a friend, understanding that life works in different ways for different people, and that being open to change can make you change in the best possible ways.

Historia
Annabelle Blake fully expects this school year to be the same as every other: same teachers, same classmates, same, same, same. So she’s elated to discover there’s a new kid in town. To Annabelle, Bailey is a breath of fresh air. She loves hearing about their life in Seattle, meeting their loquacious (and kinda corny) parents, and hanging out at their massive house. And it doesn’t hurt that Bailey has a cute smile, nice hands (how can someone even have nice hands?) and smells really good.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"Alex Gino offers a warm, effervescent narration of their latest middle-grade audiobook.... Gino's voicing of curious, generous Green as they navigate puberty and test the boundaries of their own and others' professed identities is profoundly compassionate and resolutely affirming.... Gino's narration carries the day, creating a cozy, accepting world listeners won't want to leave." (AudioFile)

Excellent new LGBT youth book in the Melissa series by Alex Gino!
This is the third book the Melissa series about her nonbinary friend Green from her middle school's LGBT club, their school puts on The Wizard of Oz in this book! It's a SUPER wholesome, educational, and motivational read for LGBT tweens, teens, their parents and allies. As a nonbinary lesbian and parent myself, I highly recommend it...it makes me feel very happy and validated that the youth have books with diverse characters like this to enjoy! 😁
