Ok story... meaning Excellent!

Hoping there will be more from Liu and this cast! Definitely would like more from How's diary; and by the way, how did he drive back to California without Dave?

Engrossing story about a parent’s life before parenthood

Do you remember the late 80’s and early nineties? This was so well performed. The themes really touched me at my stage of life. It references Tears for Fears so, that’s awesome as well.

Great book

I really enjoyed this short story. A daughter wants to understand her father and mother, however does the father have secrets he doesn’t want her to know or is he afraid.

The story of Howard

Too much cursing and I wish Dave was different. But everything came together in the end

Locked up in the past

The author tells an intriguing story of a Chinese father on a road trip to see his daughter. They hadn't been close except during the pandemic when they were in touch about every day from across the country. Now they haven't communicated well because he is locked up inside about his life in China before he came to the United States. He confronts his past finally.

Beautiful story of identity and family

I think the story and narration were amazing in this performance. I had chills at times seeing my own experience reflected in the challenges the characters faced when confronting and sharing difficult pasts. Great work!

Heartbreakingly Beautiful!

This is a story of such love and heartbreak. A story of how we are all capable of loving and terrible acts. I cried, I laughed and at parts nearly puked at the horror of the state of the human condition.

Regret over past decisions

It was about a father who had trouble communicating to his daughter. He made some very difficult life decisions that he finds reprehensible so he shuts everyone out. He was a secret police during the cultural revolution in China, and he spied on people and had them put in jail or worse. He also turned his own mother in, when he was a child, because she disagreed with the leadership. She was put to death for her ideas and he was the main reason for it.

I always liked stories that depicted the evils of the CCP and the cultural revolution. This story is okay. It seems like something from the real world, like maybe the author knew someone and this story was told. It doesn't sound invented, more like a real world story.

The only part I really didn't appreciate are all the digs at "white" people. I've been hearing this a lot in audible productions. What the heck is a "white" person exactly? It's something I keep hearing about but I have never heard any actual definition that makes sense or matches with the usage. It just sounds like something that an easily be taken out. I think this story would be much better if this racialization wasn't in it.
