Love this book so much!

The cliffhanger…I can’t!!! This series is my ACOTAR! Don’t get me wrong that’s a great series too, but I am feral for this story! Penn Cole is a beautiful genius. If she writes it I will read it!

Well, crap

Omg. This series is amazing. My assumption could be wrong, but if this is truly Penn Cole’s debut series, I’m beyond astounded and impressed.

There are a couple of moments I’ve been able to predict, but I have a feeling Cole deliberately set it up that way because there are so many moments where I have no clue what’s about to happen.

The dialogue is believable, the character development on point. It’s a series that’s tough to put down. And those cliffhangers! Book 3 isn’t yet available but I’m super excited for when it is. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Wow. Haven’t enjoyed a book this much in a while.

Great exposition. Great performance. Can’t wait for the next one. Sad I have to wait a month. People are sleeping on this series. It was like, typical romantasy formula but so well done, until the end of this book and now I am honestly not sure what is going to happen next. Wow. Major book hangover.

This book finally broke my reading slump.

Thank goodness I found this book series. I have struggled for months to find a new series that would satisfy my reading needs and this is it. Characters story, build world slow burn that I love. It’s all here.

5 everflaming stars

This was a no-brainer: 5 everflaming stars 🔥

I have a hard time putting in words why I loved this so much - as per usual with 5 star reads, I guess?

It had everything:
- An inner circle that I need in my life. I loved every. single. one. of. them.
- Banter that made me laugh out loud. Often thanks to Taran, so anyone coming for him has to go through me.
- Flirtation that was so good it made me giggle. Actually giggle.
- A tall, dark and broody MMC who's loyal to a fault and very powerful. Oh, and he's a handsome devil who has shadow magic 😏🖤. Who doesn't love a shadow daddy?
- Political intrigue that wasn't overwhelming. There were courtly games and schemes, but it was still vastly entertaining.
- Plot twists which maybe I should have seen coming, but I didn't and I was shooketh every time.
- A strong FMC that, admittedly, at times I wanted to hit in the head for not acknowledging her own feelings but we got past it and we're besties now.

The vibes had me gripped!

Just finished "Glow and the Everflame" by Penn Cole, and wow, I'm still reeling! This book absolutely nailed all the vibes I love in a romantasy. The slow burn? Check. The tension? Off the charts. The mystery and reveals kept me on the edge of my seat, and the new characters? They were a fantastic mix of lovable and loathsome, adding so much depth to the story.

There were moments that made me want to scream, moments that made me swoon, and plenty of heart-pounding drama. The only real drawback for me was the female main character's constant self-doubt and gaslighting herself, which could be a bit frustrating since it's clear to the reader what's happening. But it's all part of her journey, so I can roll with it.

I'm eagerly anticipating the next book, though I definitely need some time to digest everything that just went down. If you're into detailed and immersive fantasy romance, Penn Cole is an author you'll want to watch closely.

Nonstop Action

The 1st book in the series was obviously a lot of setup, introducing the characters, world building, etc. and could feel slow at times. The 2nd though?! NONSTOP ACTION. The narrator does an amazing job during dramatic scenes and I find my heart beating faster when I realize she’s crescendoing. And Penn Cole’s writing? Clear. Eloquent. Beautiful.

I thought I could predict what was happening, and though I did in some ways, I became so engrossed with Diem’s narrative and character development, that when she was blindsided, so was I! And the spice??? It’s SPICING, but actually feels genuine (and doesn’t overwhelm the plot like a lot of popular series these days)

I don’t want to spoil too much so I’ll just say, if you like royal drama and cutthroat politics a la Game of Thrones or maybe even Hunger Games, but still love true romantasy, you need to read this series. Don’t walk, RUN!
