Awesome!
Honestly I didn’t think I’d like it based on the summary, but since I finished the other 2 trilogies it seemed like I had to give it a try. Good plot, good narration (I like Sylvia’s new voice), and overall I really enjoyed it and finished it in 2 days. Eagerly awaiting for the next 2 to come out!

Not predictable!
I love CJ Archer books, and this one is great! The narrator is great and the story is very captivating.

Not my favorite
I have read 3 other series from CJ Archer, but this was my least favorite. The main character seemed not very bright for someone who was supposed to be educated. The narrators tone was bland the entire book and the characters accents made no sense. Also, just be aware that although this is book one of this trilogy it is definitely not the first of this story line. I felt there was a lot of history I was missing. I will try another series from CJ Archer, as I did enjoy her other books.

Great premise … dragged at the end
Great premise. I enjoyed learning bit by bit about Quinn. Cara’s character was a bit flat. The most frustrating part was how much the pace slowed in the latter third of the book. Too much navel gazing and indecision by the Heroine. Including during the “final battle “. Thankfully, Audible allowed me to fast forward 30 seconds at a clip, to skip the boring inner monologue. This book could’ve been cut by at least a third - nearly the entire latter third. The second book sounds interesting, but I was just too annoyed with the book one that I won’t be reading on.
