This audiobook is a leading accent-reduction toolkit with practical exercises to master a general American accent. It contains explanations on how to form correct English sounds. The audiobook provides extensive practice with words, sentences, and funny verses.

This audiobook is compact and easy to use with its 44 short lessons, each devoted to a single phoneme.

For each phoneme, there is a list of words containing the target sound, a list of sentences, a few verses, a few tongue-twisters, and some articulation exercises. The more you listen, the better your pronunciation becomes, because you get a feeling for how words should be pronounced. After the listening phase, try to repeat as many times as you can: again, practice makes perfect! A bit every day is much better than a lot only once a week, so try to be consistent and your efforts will be repaid. You'll soon see that the right pronunciation will come perfectly naturally to you.

The pluses are that you can study pronunciation whenever and wherever you are (during your commuting time, for example). Another useful feature is that the verses and tongue-twisters are a bit silly and very amusing, so you won't get bored!

Great book but missing Whispersync for voice.

If you could sum up Get Rid of your Accent General American in three words, what would they be?

Since this book is for training purposes Whispersync for Voice is a MUST.I have to bookmark each chapter then add a note for example: chapter A1 , then copy and paste from kindle this part of the book, save. It is a hassle but works.You can practice any given time go back to part you want to improve.I was taking private lessons ($150 an hour NYC). My teacher practice with me exactly the same way. I had to record my lessons and practice at home.This is basically the same just you have to be your own judge. You must record yourself then listen and make corrections. Book is organized very well and straight to the point if you compare to other books, its just practice and practice exactly like they described.

There are practically no pauses so I'm not sure what even the purpose of this audio book is.

Don't get this if you think you can listen to it in the car, like I did.

Too many mistakes.

Sometimes the recording doesn't coordinate with the text (the book).
The actors did their best.
