The year is 1949, the city London. Amidst the smog of the capital stumbles Dennis Knuckleyard, a hapless eighteen year-old employed by a second-hand bookshop. One day, on an errand to acquire books for sale, Dennis discovers a novel that simply does not exist. It is a fictitious book, a figment from another novel. Yet it is physically there in his hands. How? Dennis has stumbled on a book from the Great When, a magical version of London beyond time and space, where reality blurs with fiction and concepts such as Crime and Poetry are incarnated as wondrous, terrible beings.

The plot thickens
Peter Grant gets out of the city and spends time in the country. His apprenticeship is coming along nicely as his boss stays behind. Lots of loose ends so I am sure we will see Peter and Beverly again. He wouldn't be the same character without Kobna Holbrook Smith reading. What an amazing job he does. I could listen to him read anything all day long.

Maybe the best of the Rivers of London Series.
Would you listen to Foxglove Summer again? Why?
Yes, I'd listen again. Instead of London, the setting was the English countryside so that was interesting.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It was good to see Beverly Brook again. I'm glad she and Peter finally hooked up.
What does Kobna Holdbrook-Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love how he does the different voices. I especially like Inspector Nightingale and Beverly Brook.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Supernatural crime in the English countryside.

Wonderful <br />
Any paranormal fantasy with multiple shout-outs to 'Aliens' is an automatic winner. That, and it is very nicely written and the performance is first rate.

Another hilarious adventure!
I love this series. Hands-down. The writing is a great the characters are brilliant. The plot is a little bit weak in this one and I hope it's going somewhere good. Sadly this one made me really want to read the next one. Overall not bad but I'm not the most patient person in the world.

Toned Down
Compared to the previous Peter Grant stories, this one doesn't have a lot of action. Still enjoyable though. Looking forward to the next installment.
