A masterpiece

This book is raw, gorgeously written, wrenching, and unlike anything I’ve ever read. The cast is superb. Shining a light on one of the cruelest chapters of American history. Everyone should read this book. I bawled by eyes out.

Incredibly powerful and relatable

This amazing story captured me immediately. The author weaves a relatable tale of a family striving to make the best of their simple lives while revealing some of the ugliest realities of human nature. It’s an extraordinary way to bring ALL readers (no matter age, race, or hometown) a greater understanding of the ugly truth about our nation’s racial divides. Incredibly well written, and the audiobook was awesomely performed.
