Esta es la extraña historia de una niña habitada interiormente por un huésped inquietante, quizás imaginario, quizás no. Ana sostiene una lucha silenciosa contra esa hermana siamesa, hasta que esta comienza a manifestarse en su entorno familiar de una manera devastadora. Alrededor de esa presencia se fraguan los acontecimientos de su vida. Ana sabe que, tarde o temprano, ocurrirá en ella un desdoblamiento.
Esta novela describe un largo adiós al mundo de la vista y un encuentro con el universo de los ciegos, pero también con la cara subterránea y más recóndita de la ciudad de México. Los personajes, incluida la ciudad, se desdoblan en una confusión de reflejos, sin que sepamos nunca el territorio que pisamos.
El huésped fue finalista en 2005 del Premio Herralde y la primera e inquietante novela de Guadalupe Nettel, una de las voces más presentes de la narrativa en español.
Guadalupe Nettel es una escritora mexicana. Ha vivido durante años en Francia, donde obtuvo el Grand Prix International a la Meilleure Nouvelle de Langue Française y donde se doctoró en Ciencias del Lenguaje. Sus obras han sido traducidas a más de quince lenguas y ha recibido numerosos premios por su labor literaria, como el Premio de Narrativa Breve Ribera del Duero (2013) o el Premio Herralde (2014).
