Acerca de esta escucha

Continuing the events leading up to Frank Herbert's immortal Dune saga, the exciting conclusion to this trilogy finds the cruel Tleilaxu overlords on Ix manufacturing a synthetic form of amal to supplant the spice from Dune. If amal is accepted, Emperor Shaddam IV will gain absolute power. But if the plot of the Imperial House Corrino succeeds, the result may be the end of civilization itself.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"[A] fully satisfying conclusion (after Dune: House Atreides and Dune: House Harkonnen) to the authors' "House" trilogy....The inevitable derivative features aside, this is a good, steady, enjoyable tale, and readers who haven't read the first two books can easily follow the plot." ( Publishers Weekly)
"[T]his complex and compelling tale of dynastic intrigue and high drama adds a significant chapter to the classic Dune saga. Highly recommended." ( Library Journal)

Wonderful

I always love Scott Brick's performances with the Dune series, and this one is animated and a pleasure to listen to. He seems to know the characters so well by now, it comes effortlessly. I only hope he isn't tired of it!

I burned through this final novel of the House Trilogy in a week or less. It was engaging and a great precursor to restarting the full original Dune series. I can't wait to go through Paul of Dune and Winds of Dune before the very first Dune novel.

I am grateful for these side novels to fill in the rest of the story, even if they're not from Frank Herbert himself. If anyone is qualified for the side material, I believe Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson are the ones.
Definitely check out the forums on the Dune website for a complete list of reading order for all extra Dune material!

poor narration

It really makes me sad that the narration in this book really ruined one of my favorite series of all time. The narrator sounds bored and makes the most interesting portions of the book a snoozefest with monotone disinterest. Severely disappointed.

moments

It is a good series of books, but there are points in this book and a couple of others that the characters are just evil to be stupidly evil. there are other times that events unfold a way that seem like the authors were like this has to occur even though there is abcd that would make it not occur.
the reader of the book is wonderful!

I loved this book, I thought the whole trilogy of houses was brilliant! The backstory of the great houses of the imperium is a must read!

I didn't think they could do it.

I've never read Dune so I had no high expectations for these authors to stay true to its original authors storyline. I can't compare the two or judge them for what they did or didn't do. All I know is that I couldn't put this down. I listened to all three almost 75. hours worth of recording by an amazing narrator. I've never read Sci fiction before and I wanted to start with something classic and amazing. A new world built . I can't believe they finished in three books and it rapped up well. It didn't feel rushed at all. I'm ready to jump right into Dune but I'm hesitate because I know it will be the end of it all. But if I continue the Dune series by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson the large world of Dune will have developed so much in my mind that i ll be ready to see it go.

Best in the Trilogy!!!

Great story in the Herbert tradition. Spans the gap before the original Dune. Worth the listen.

Not a knockoff

this is a cleverly written adjunct to the classic sci fi thriller. Ieajoyed the introduction of concepts which would dramatically influence the Dune Universe, and then in a natural course, to eliminate them as a possibility. I plan to follow up by rereading the Original, and I feel like I have a better grounding in the history of these characters

Fantastic

This trilogy, House Attredies, House Harkonnen and House Corrino ranks with The Lord of The Rings trilogy as far as I am concerned.
A MUST for any DUNE fan.

For lovers of the series

Any additional comments?

If you love the Dune universe, you should definitely read this (and the entire "House" trilogy). Kevin Anderson and Brian Herbert are NOT Frank Herbert, and while they continue to produce stories that are worth telling, the style is not the same. The thought provoking themes that seem to be a pervasive undercurrent in Frank Herbert's novels do not seem to come through in the stories written by Kevin and Brian. Also, they have a habit of "filling in" the audience on events that most readers already know. The trilogy is written so that someone who never read Dune could read it and follow along.Regardless, I've read (or listened to) nearly everything the Kevin and Brian have written in the Dune universe. Taken for what the House Trilogy is, the series tells a good story which adds to the original dune series. In fact, having completed House Corrino, I've already started reading the Original Dune again, because I think it has added a lot of depth to Leto I, Jessica, Baron Harkonnen and others. If you take this trilogy for what it is, and understand that it was not written by Frank Herbert, I think anyone who enjoyed Dune would also enjoy this book.

Now, just to get them to write the other two novels planned in the Heroes of Dune series...
