I was sorry it had to end

I just loved this trilogy. I laughed hard. I cried. I couldn’t put it down. I was sorry when it ended. It was filled with such delightful characters. It had a good message of people taking care of each other. And it had bad guys who didn’t make it. Just a great story and the narrator was wonderful. A+

Common life in a small community

Loved the “coupling” of characters and how they addressed challenges and obstacles in their lives. Loved the tight knit community where everyone knew almost everything about everyone who were their neighbors. The willingness to share, help, support and forgive. Excellent narration

I enjoyed this series. I'll definitely be reading more of her books. hopefully this picks up as a tb show ;)

Down by the River

June was in route to the office and she found a lady Erleen Davis having a baby. The man’s name was Conrad Davis. They were not married. She was 14 when they met. June went to Bertie because she was having a panic attack. She was going to meet Edward Mortimer, he is a writer also. Harry Shipton, the pastor call for a prayer tree, he called Leah Craven, Betty Lou Granger, and George at the café to have a frozen meal to donate to the hospital for Philana Topeak, Tom‘s mother. Tom’s wife’s name is Ursula. Frank hit his mother, then started crying 😢. The x-wife, Breanna Shipton, who loved Harry, but divorced because he had a gambling problem. When they went to the café they noticed that the office has been robbed, so he told Frank to go sit in the range rover and lie down. Harry has been a preacher for six months. Harry Shipton brought her a 16 pound turkey. Geria this is for you. Erleen, and her children were joining Geria for Thanksgiving. Harry Shipton brought Leah craving a 20 pound turkey. Edward was 86. It turned out that he was actually Morton Claypool, her estranged husband. Clinton got a crow bar and opened the house of Erleen Davis, then Clinton set on Conrad. Near closing time, Rikki proposed to be Frank’s big brother. Rikki moved several times throughout his life, and Rikki was a great guy. Clarence came home and stayed overnight he stayed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Fresh out of jail Conrad Davis slug June with a right hook to the jar. He built it outside and ran the truck north. He would buy some money left over for pot, meth, or ecstasy. June said Conrad stole my truck. Conrad tried to drive under a flooded overpass and got washed away. If he stayed with the truck he might have been OK, but he tried to get a cross on foot. Highway patrol found his body washed up by a big tree. June finally got married and she had a 5 lbs. 10 oz. boy they called him Jaimi Elmer Hudson post. Elmer walk June down the Al to Ed Jim Post. Nancy was the matron of honor. This was such a great story I loved every bit of it.

Entertaining trilogy

So many relationships, so many events and so many hours enjoying reading about this delightful town. All the main characters and secondary characters caught my attention to the degree I want more of them. These are people who keep me wanting to know more about their lives. Alas, it is not to be. Many thanks to Robyn Carr for her warm and caring writing. Many thanks to Therese Plummer and her excellent narration bringing these well-written characters to life.

Best of all Robyn Carr books I've read!

This was even better than Virgin River, I think. Lots of action, and I fell in love with all of the warm characters. Great job of dealing with some very hard topics. Very relatable, realistic, and enjoyable read. Excellent narration.

So sweet and such a sweet ending to the trilogy. Love this author. Feel like I have new friends I want to visit in Grace Valley.

Down by the River

This review addresses the entire series consisting of three novels. Deep in the Valley, Just Over the Mountain, and Down by the River.

The Grace Valley Trilogy is character-driven, a familial tale of small-town life. Grace Valley is a Mayberry R.F.D. town with the quirky characters of a sheriff, a dozen or so nosy neighborhood eccentrics who know everything about everybody, all with hearts of gold. The books are compilations of a few dozen isolated events that make up small-town life - a wealthy widow suspected of murdering her husband, a preacher addicted to gambling, an old widower who wants only to help those in need, a few men who abuse their wives and children, a town flood that endangers them all, the perils of the devastatingly poor, to name a few. Then there is our heroine, June Hudson - the town doctor who is loved by and loves them all - and finds love for herself.

No violence, no shoot 'em ups, none of that double tap grizzly stuff. These stories are ridiculously squeaky clean; give them as gifts, teens included. Far from great literature, and Robyn Carr has done better. But, they are listenable beach read stuff.

Starting with book one recommended else you'll miss references and character development. Each book is approximately ten hours of listening, narrated by Therese Plummer. No issues with narration. Noted a few instances of "dead air", but fundamentally okay productions.
