Welches Leben erwartet den rollerfahrenden Jungen, der in "Shining" nur knapp dem Schrecken des Overlook-Hotels entkommt? Diese Frage hat Stephen King, den Meister des Horror-Genres, nicht losgelassen. In dem Hörbuch "Doctor Sleep" spinnt er die Geschichte von Danny Torrance weiter.
Danny, inzwischen vierzig, kämpft gegen die Alkoholsucht und die Dämonen seiner Vergangenheit. Seine übernatürliche Gabe setzt er im Altenheim ein. Als "Doctor Sleep" hilft er Sterbenden, sanft aus dem Leben zu scheiden.
Doch dann tritt der "Wahre Knoten" auf den Plan. Die Mitglieder dieser uralten, vampirähnlichen Sekte ernähren sich von Kindern mit dem Shining und töten sie grausam. Ihr nächstes Opfer soll die 12-jährige, hochbegabte Abra werden. Zuletzt steht nur noch eins zwischen Abra und dem sicheren Tod: der zu allem entschlossene Danny.
Sprecher David Nathan versteht es gerade durch seine abgeklärte Erzählweise, den Worten Kings noch mehr Gewicht zu geben. So kann sich der Hörer der bedrohlichen Atmosphäre keine Sekunde mehr entziehen.

It’s in German!!
