And while being trapped in a house with no means of escape is the last thing Leo would consider a good time—especially with parents on the precipice of divorce—he can't help but wonder if maybe the change of scenery will help him shake off the chains of sadness brought on by the death of his closest friend.

But what starts off as a relatively benign family trip quickly turns menacing. Leo finds himself face-to-face with what feels like his best friend reaching out from beyond the grave, and only hours after they arrive, Lark begins to receive sinister texts. And then they both see it: someone lurking in the shadows of their rental home. Someone who has been expecting them despite the Parrishes being a thousand miles from home.

Just ok

I wouldn’t say it was horror or even thriller. Mainly suspense. Definitely not one of her better books. Very slow throughout and ended on a plateau.

Great story

Starts confusing and slow but ends up great. Super plot and writing. Very fun and creepy.

Dark and intense...this book was a Rollercoaster that i will be riding at least two more times!

terribly confusing ending

it was a good book! alot of the daydreams and delusions taking place went on a bit long and had me forgetting what was happening in the present. spoilers ahead!!

what really had me lost and took away from the entire story was the ending. I am baffled as to why they would think it's a better idea to steal the killers identity and flee the country when it was all self defense. they could have even claimed the one character was killed by the duo to evade any repercussions.

Disappointed

I had such high hopes due to my love for other Ania Ahlborn books I’ve read in the past. This book was confusing and then just plain boring for me.

There was a nice plot twist towards the end. But this book was overall forgettable

What happened across the bay?

This storyline provides us an example of the terrible consequences the people we love can bring upon us. Solid story, excellent performance and appropriate end to all the chaos.

Cape Fear meets Fatal Attraction

I found this novel to be highly addictive. (It kept me up into the wee hours of the morning) Thrilling, surprising, heart warming and truly heartbreaking. I was pretty emotionally wrecked by the end. Great read. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes Cape Fear and/or Fatal Attraction.

Fast and Gory

There were parts where I wanted to yell at them for some of their decisions, but overall it was a good story. It all tied together well and I couldn't guess the ending, which to me means it was well written. It's also scary.

I love Ania Ahlborn- but this one just didn’t hold the same fear factor for me.

Great story

The plot was engaging and full of unexpected twists and turns. The conclusion was surprising and left me with a sense of wonder.
