As midnight approached, Venus's seductive invitation pulled Mitchell away from the enjoyable conversations he was having with other guests. She promised him a private tour of the lavish mansion, and he couldn't resist. But as they descended the winding staircase into the lower level of the mansion, Mitchell's heart began to race with conflicting emotions.

The heated pool, bathed in alluring colors, beckoned to him but also made him feel out of place without a swimsuit. He struggled with the appropriateness of indulging in such luxury when he didn't even own proper attire.

Venus seemed to read his mind and offered to go for a swim together, seemingly unconcerned about clothing. Mitchell couldn't help but wonder if this was all part of her plan to seduce him, especially after learning she was married to wealthy oil tycoon Gerald Hart. Yet, he couldn't deny his growing attraction towards her.

Their encounter at St. Patrick's Cathedral, where Mitchell went for weekly prayers, had left him bewitched by her beauty. Little did he know that Venus had chosen him as the perfect victim to help her plot against her husband.

As their affair continued, Mitchell became more deeply ensnared by Venus's allure and would stop at nothing to have her. But there was another woman who loved him secretly - Dora Palmer, his assistant at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel where he worked as a Records Keeper.

Dora's discovery of an antique book revealing the spirits and ghosts that resided in the hotel sparked her curiosity, leading her down a dangerous path of uncovering secrets that should have remained buried. Meanwhile, Marlowe's rivalry with Assistant Manager Dillon Chesterfield only added to the conflicted nature of their relationship.

In the end, both men are consumed by their lust and competitiveness, with Dillon ultimately stealing Dora away from Marlowe.
