Let this cast a great listen

This is a great audio. The author wrote a great story. It is book 3. I have not listened to book 1 or 3 . But you can listen to this as a stand-alone. It seems you should listen to the other 2. Scott Bennett as a narrator was great . He had a clear voice . Scott played the parts fantastically.

This is a story about the hero that wants to help his brother out. There is gods in this one and other entities that play a big part in the listen His brother has two sides to him . Grab it and see how it plays in the story

I ended up skipping book 2 to listen to this one. Thankfully, the author does a great job of filling in the pertinent details from the last 2 books so even a new reader won't be lost. This story was just as entertaining as the first and the narrator did a good job. Better, in fact, than the first book. Definitely worth checking out if you like a good fantasy story.

Thrilling story

This is an exciting continuation of the Casters of Syndrial series, but don’t worry if you haven’t listened to the first two books as you will still be able to follow the story because the author recaps the prior books well. Writer and Painter are great characters, they compliment each other perfectly and you can’t help but like them. Their relationship grows and they learn to work together better as they strive to help save their world from an apocalyptic event that they cannot resolve alone. With an untrained power, uncooperative gods, revelations, trials and dangers, this story is exciting and has lots of action. The narrator did a great job with the whole series, creating tension in all the right places but also showing the humor in the story very well. His voices are consistent from book to book, making the characters easily recognizable and giving them individual voices. I really enjoyed the repartee, the relationships, magic, dangers and intrigue in this entertaining story.

What Appears to Be Can Be Decieving

If like me you are coming upon this series on this, its third installment, then you will appreciate the fast and concise summary that readers are given at the start of the major events that came before. This becomes especially true when people and their stories (as the audience knows them) become twisted. When you mix this with the training of the under-trained, the paranoia of the targeted, and the frustration of the under-informed, then put all of these volatile elements under the pressure of a prophecy of doom, and you can get some explosive results.

As always the narrator performs excellently. Unfortunately due to several high-speed conversations between family members of the same gender and similar temperament, even the skills of this very skilled and versatile narrator are not enough to keep the differentiation clear and distinct.

Although this story is in-depth enough and engaging enough to stand on its own, I made a realization as I listened that both saddened and irritated me. One of the supporting characters that seems to play an ongoing role in the series, looks to be very underdeveloped in this story. Fortunately for me, I had already ready a considerable length into one of this author's other series (Elemental) in which this character, his magic, his family, and his world are more thoroughly explained as well as how certain styles of magic work. This information would be extremely useful in understanding many elements of This story.

This time they have to save Syndrial itself:)

The third adventure of our favourite casters of Syndrial is again enjoyable and surprising. This time it's not only an old enemy Nathan and his twin brother have to fight against, it's Syndrial itself that needs their help.

As with the other two parts of the series, the imagery and the world created are rich and colourful, and the obstacles Nathan and his brother have to overcome let us get to know them even better - we find out more and more about their personalities and their pasts with every book in the series. This time we also get a closer look at Bast's past - and there's a big surprise waiting there both for Nathan and us:)

The only small fault of this installment of Nathan's adventures is that some descriptive/explanatory parts of the book feel a bit lengthy, but as the information is necessary for our understanding of what and why is going on, I can forgive that:) However, these parts slow the pace of the main plotline from time to time...

As for the narration by Mr Bennett, it's very good, as with the first two parts, although it felt a bit slow this time - but I sped it to 1.25 and then it sounded better. Generally, he's very good at dialogues and voicing particular characters, a bit slow in narrative parts. But overall I liked this interpretation very much.

Best yet

Ok, this is by far the best in the series. Is the language still pretty rough? yes, but it seems tamer than the two prior installments. Is there still sex? Well we’re talking about gods of similar nature to those of Egypt so yeah, but it isn’t graphic. Should this still be read by those over 18? No doubt.

The story is SO GOOD in this book. Lots of twists you really don’t see coming and the narrator has a solid rhythm that suits this book well. If you’ve read the first two, they will pale in comparison to this one!

J. SCOTT BENNETT ROCKS AS USUAL, GREAT STORY!

I admit, this is the first in the series I've listened to, but I think the author and the narrator's brilliance (he rocks!) really gave me as good an understanding of the prior story as I could get without having listened to it myself. I thought the story was awesome, it's a different end-of-the-world tale with some humor/sarcasm, so as not to take you "too far down." I was brought into a world of magic, action and fantasy, following brothers Nathan and Luca as their journey transports them to another land called Syndrial. It's a fantastically written and narrated tale, and if you're into this type of thing, and even if you're not, I think you'll really enjoy it. :)

Love all Rain Oxford's books

I like this series but not as much as the Sorcerer's Saga.
I like the way Ms. Oxford weaves in some of her character's from her other series. It's like visiting old friends.
You don't have to read the other series to know what is going on in this series but they are worth the read.

I love J. Scott Bennett's narration. He has a wonderful voice.
