Clever, laugh out loud story

Murray Lee (aka Beau Smith, Brody Steele, Owen Hunter) is on the run again. His witness protection profile has been blown again because he did the right thing and helped find a killer, but also because he's a bit of a rebel. I love this series and am on my second reading of the books and this book still makes me laugh the most. There is a serious mystery of who is using the annual vampire book festival to bite and rob locals and a serious threat from the men trying to take Beau, "the bookkeeper" for Satan's Dogs biker gang down, but the many scenes involving the locals and fans and their devotion to the vampire series (A thinly veiled mockery of the Twilight fans and many other vampire book festivals) is clever and so much fun! I liked the Twilight series, but Colin nails the extremists with humor and their devotion to the angsty teen genre is laugh out loud funny! I think the way the vampires freeze (like they do in the movies) and his using the umbrellas scene was hysterical!
These are fun books with a good mystery and a character who is growing and trying to be a better person, but isn't quite there yet.
Damon Abdallah is great with the voices and you always know who is talking. He has great timing and really makes the book even better!

Author Colin Conway has written another 'un-put-downable-book'. I admit that I got a late start to the Cozy Up series, but the book that hooked me was 'Cozy Up to Christmas Book 5’, published in 2021. By the time I finished, I knew I would be a fan of the main character, Brody Steele and this wonderfully creative writer, Colin Conway. There are so many tongue-in-cheek moments that it is impossible not to smile, laugh or shake your head. Don’t get me wrong, this is a deadly serious situation. You see Brody is a former outlaw biker turned state’s witness against his former biker gang. Needleless to say they have a tremendous amount of ill will towards Steele, known as the ‘collector.’ More on that nom de plume is revealed in subsequent books. Now, to get the most information from the often referred to as ‘a rat’ by his former friends, it is necessary to place him into witness protection. With the gang hot on his trail, Brody Steele barely manages to stay ahead of the gang mainly because he sticks out - in any crowd. In ‘Cozy Up to Blood’, Brody finds himself stranded on an island in the middle of its annual vampire-lycan themed movie/book celebration; think ‘Twilight’.
I highly recommend this series. Even though I started several books in, I have gone back to Book 1, ‘Cozy Up to Death’ and continue to read through the series. In addition to the excellent writing, Audible has one of the best performer for this series imaginable. Damon Abdallah's talent gives the perfect voice to Brody Steele, his many aliases and the variety of other characters with which he must interact to maintain his cover.
