a fun wrap-up for Harriet &Lord Peter

I loved the prologue and all the personalities. the doweger Dutchess is the best.

How have I missed out on this gem my whole life?

Never a fan of Agatha Christie, I've long assumed that all the "golden age of detective fiction" authors would also be not to my taste -- but I was so wrong. Dorothy L. Sayers (along with Margery Allingham, who I discovered first) well deserves her reputation as one of the queens of the golden age.

Just what I needed to get me out of myself.

A fine, absorbing story in all its details, remarkable, moving quotes to lead off each chapter, moving poetry, too, of Lord Peter in love with the perfect woman and she in love with him. Some really transcendent moments! And to top it all off, extraordinary narration by a real master.

Love & healing vs hate and death

Finally Harriett marries Peter, escape paparazzi to a country house honeymoon and find a corpse in the cellar. Sayers gives us a delicious payoff for years of waiting to see this compelling couple come together! They discover deep, true love and healing, and also uncover greedy hatred and death. Funny, wise, eccentric as Sayers is in all her novels, this, in my mind, is second only to Gaudy Night in brilliance and delight!

Now this is how marriage should be. I'm always entranced from the first chapter and all the way to the last word. I adore the quotes! Character development like crazy. Just fabulous!!

Two Loving Hearts

Peter and Harriet at their most human. An amazing story. Nothing else really needs said; if you a regular follower of the Canon you need nothing else.

Peter and Harriet

Always fun, entertaining, informative and a delight to follow Lord Peter's deductive reasoning. The flow of the relationship of the newlyweds portends a long and fruitful life together. They already relate relate to the other's thoughts and moods.

Bunter is Bunter as always - right there when he is needed.

I believe that I have watched and or listened to almost all of the Lord Peter Whimsey mysteries. Busman’s Honeymoon is my favorite so far!

Great and not as much sniffing as the last

I adore Dorothy L. Sayer's writing and the stories she weaved. I even like Ian Carmichael's voice on narration. What drives me to distraction is when any narrator adds a sniff to the ends of most sentences! The previous book featured Mr. Carmichael doing this a lot. Thankfully, there was little of this in this story and where it occurred, it was appropriate to the characters such as when one had a cold or had been crying.

I do hope that Audible adds more of Sayer's works!!
