Surprisingly Excellent!

This book was a gift so I had no idea what to expect! With the first chapter, however, I was so drawn into the characters and story that I was too intrigued to stop! Excellent book!

Not my thing…

This is the first written review I’ve ever done on Audible but have listened to almost 2 dozen books.

The performance was great. The author is clearly a great writer but the storyline just didn’t agree with me at all. Based on other reviews I kept going chapter after chapter but couldn’t wait for it to end. Normally I stop reading/listening if I don’t like a book but I’d heard do much about this one that I forged ahead. Regretting the time I wasted on it.

2 stars? 4 stars?

I don't know how I feel about this book. I'm confused. I don't get it. I'm still processing. Does it deserve 2 stars or 5 stars? All I know is I really enjoyed the ride from beginning to end. And I loved the narration. The description of Jennifer's Body meets A Secret History is dead on. I think fans of David Lynch may also really like this. But If you don't like weird, skip it. If you aren't into some magical realism, definitely skip it. If you're open to being taken on a crazy journey...definitely spend a credit. Now I want to know if the authors other books are this f-ing weird.

I’m not quite sure what I just read… But I know I’ve never read anything like it, and I certainly enjoyed it.

I have one word

I guess more than one word, I’m on my second listen of this story. I’m not usually one to do. I don’t really know how to describe how this story makes me feel.. one word I guess…dissociative

Glad I stuck with it

I wasn’t sure I was going to like this through maybe the first half of the book and I think that comes down to it being marketed as horror. I’m a horror junkie and this just wasn’t horrifying enough for me. As I got farther along it became clear that this is more of a dark comedy/satire and I began to appreciate it more.

This book may not be everyone’s cup of tea (not sure why it wouldn’t be) however, I am OBSESSED!!!
I can’t stop thinking about it, I’ve never read a book quite like this one.
What a ride and I love the ambiguity of it!

Different and surprising

Delightful imaginative and funny - the voices are a lot but it’s the way it should be. Main character is frustrating at times but over all I loved it. Many Providence Rhode Island references.
