Acerca de esta escucha

They rule my new town, my school, and with more money than God, there’s very little out of their reach.

Four gorgeous, perfect, scary boys. There used to be five, but one of them died, leaving a fifth position that I now fill.

I didn't ask for this. I didn't want to be part of this billionaire-boys-club. But no one cares about what I want.

Sebastian Beckett is the worst of them. Their leader. He draws me in, and strips me of every defense I have. He calls me Butterfly, but it's not a pet name, it's a threat. Beck wants nothing more than to break my wings, pin me to a board and watch me writhe.

He wants to see me broken. Body, heart, and soul.

And what these elite want, they get.

Only they've never met Riley Jameson.

Let the battle begin.

This dark contemporary romance features one girl and four sexy, dangerous boys but is not a reverse harem.

Love the story and narration!

I love the story, the characters, the writing style, the narrators. What an ending!!! It's exactly what I've been looking for.

Good start

I started this series To hold me over while I wait for book 3 of the shadow beast series by the same author. This one is OK… But not my favorite. The main character is a little immature and came across as slightly annoying. But they have grabbed my attention enough that I want to know what happens. So I will be reading book two.

This is just the second series I listen to from this author and she's becoming one of my favorite authors. It's a good listen.

I love this book; the narration!

I love this book, the narration too. I love how you can actually hear the male voice instead of the female narrator disguising the male voice. This time is actually a male voice, they need to have more narrations like this.

I really love this series...

But, there are a couple of things that I HATE about it, too. Thus, I can't give it 5 stars.
This story has the perfect balance of suspense, mystery, romance, action and triumph. It kept my attention from the first second until the end of "Dylan," where I found myself with a terrible book hangover. (Please, please write about Jasper and Evan too!!)
The only thing I actually had a problem with was the fmc, Riley, at times. Many times. I just... found myself wishing she was a little bit .. less of an idiot? Obviously, this was not a deal breaker, the storyline was still good enough that I wanted to keep going, but.. she just got on my nerves! All of this bluster about being a "strong, independent woman" who "didn't need to be rescued" and then, every time she's in trouble she either freezes and goes into full-blown shock or screams bloody murder, or both. And then needs to be rescued. The girl has a broken fight-or-flight response, she does NEITHER. She also made a fool of herself so many times by just being super naive 🙄. One time in particular, the crew was all at a board meeting getting forced into an assignment, *from the super evil corporation that does super evil things constantly,* and the task involved stealing a sex tape made by someone... when Riley finally understood the assignment she pitched a fit about how awful and disgusting it was to deal in sex tapes.. like.. did you just forget who you're talking to, sweetheart? You really think these evil people are going to say, "yeah, you're totally right! Let's get justice for the girls tricked! Right after I murder the child of a judge who ruled against us. Morals! Yay!" She said things like that soooo many times, it was like she didn't have a lick of sense. Bleh. It just bothered me quite a bit.
The other thing that I hated was the female narrator. I couldn't STAND her voice. It was ok-ish (bearable) for most parts, but when the scene called for excitement of any sort the narrator got soooo screechy. It was over dramatic and whiny, and so so so nasally. She also sounded way too old for the characters. Like.. Marnye Young would make a GREAT grandmother, she's got that wobbly drawl down. But her voice was far too mature for this book, and did I mention how screechy she was?? *shudder* ugh I never want to listen to her again!

This is your sign to read this!!!

I don’t ever leave reviews for books that require writing words, BUT I had to in this case. I LOVED this book!!!! The narration is *chefs kiss* spectacular, the characters are awesome, and the story was compelling as heck! I’ve found that I don’t get surprised anymore, at least with romance books, but I found myself surprised on more than one occasion. I LOVE the main character, and her internal dialogue cracked me up throughout the story. I love the relationships between all the characters, and ugh I just loved the book. I cannot say enough good things, and I cannot wait to read the next book!!!

Amazing series!

Jaymin Eve has always been one of those authors that I always come back to, add in Tate James and you have a recipe for one amazing story. These two ladies do a phenomenal job with this story. There is so much angst, 4 super sexy harasses (not a RH) and a Denali main character who bites back! I love Riley, that girl is just amazing!

This audiobook is one of my favorites! Marnye Young & Jarred Kjack do such an amazing job with the story. I love how Jarred comes in and does the voices of all the guys when they speak, yummy voice that one has.

love this series!

I love this series!! I love the characters. I love their stories. I love this world. Authors are great — I laugh and I get sucked into the stories and stay up late reading. I totally stalk them on social media to see when their next book is released! Do not miss out on this series because you may have been swayed by negative reviews. These books are amazing!!!
Note: This review is long overdue and will be the same for all the books in the series.

Great audiobook!

I got the audiobooks of this series to refresh my brain before Dylan came out in December and I thought the narrators did a fabulous job! I totally thought Marnye did her homework and really got into character and brought Butterfly to life! Her performance, emotions, inflections were just how I imagined while reading, no constructive feedback from me this time, 5 stars. I think Jarred did a great job as well 4-4.5 stars from me with some of the guys and their emotions in this book, but it was kinda tough when the guys were very closed off (on purpose with the storyline). I will say Jarred improved as the series got on so by book 3 they were both easily 5 stars and added to my awesome narrator list.

For the storyline, I enjoy Jaymin and Tate as a writing duo. I think they really feed off each other well, bringing the best out of each other. I think Jaymin's writing leans more toward YA sometimes so Tate's more adult and steamier writing helped elevate the sexy and high-tensioned scenes (holy moly man, the chemistry already in book 1 🔥🔥🔥). I think Jaymin helps Tate create more in-depth character development (not saying Tate didnt do this before), I just think Jaymin really helps make an intricate story and relationship levels if that makes sense haha.

I am always hesitant when picking up bully romances because I was bullied as a kid but this one wasn't as bad as some I have read/listened to. I also don't always read M/F but definitely enjoyed this one that I didnt mind at all. It made sense to not make it RH with how territorial Beck is haha. I like the mystery evil empire and guy clique trope, the authors do a great job setting the stage for the rest of the series in Broken Wings. I loved the side characters (except the evil parents haha) and was intrigued to see how Beck and Riley could get over their actions and decisions with each other. I was totally team Dante in book 1 but thought he was super fishy in terms of Riley's mom with the phone number thing haha. This book keeps you on your toes and I liked the car racing aspect (my dad used to work on and then race them so it was cool to talk to him about some of the things mentioned in this series). I also thought the heartache was so real sometimes, I had to stop listening and collect myself. This happened mores in the other books, but the scenes with Riley in the hospital were devastating and felt so real! True testament to the writing and narration being a perfect meld.

Without giving away anything, I definitely recommend this series and loved each book as they went along (will explain in those reviews next haha). Let me just say I am so happy Dylan got his own story and I am dyingggg for the other guys to get theres. Great job Tate and Jaymin ❤️❤️❤️
