En cada uno de los casos, se revisa la grandeza de las urbes, la importancia que tuvieron, su evolución a lo largo del tiempo, sus monumentos o aspectos más destacados y, por supuesto, las causas de su decadencia. Así, se explicará la relevancia de Ur, la grandeza de Babilonia en Mesopotamia (con Hammurabbi y Nabucodonosor), las peculiaridades de Tebas en Egipto; de Jerusalén "la ciudad santa, cuna de las tres grandes religiones monoteístas", y de Cartago. Se repasará también a las más grandes ciudades en el continente asiático y americano como Pataliputra/Patna y Teotihuacán respectivamente. Esta obra pone especial énfasis en describir los conflictos urbanos, los personajes más destacados y los acontecimientos históricos en los que se vieron implicadas estas ciudades. Con estos datos, se analizan los cambios y transformaciones que experimentaron desde sus inicios hasta que lograran convertirse en grandes urbes con magníficos monumentos y edificios.

increíble
tener perspectiva de la historia de esta manera da demasiada luz sobre nuestra situación actual. Política, guerra, religión y la necesidad de recursos para sostener estos deseos han creado y destruido imperios. Este libro es iluminativo y también me parece absurdo que estemos midiendo todavía el tiempo en Antes de Cristo y Después de Cristo, es súper confuso. Debería haber un sistema internacional para ello. Gracias al que hizo este libro.
