Acerca de esta escucha

In a war between gods, Adelais stands alone.

After bringing down deadly vengeance on church and crown in Galmandie, Adelais escaped to her home in Vriesland. But even here she is surrounded by enemies.

While the common folk worship her, ruthless nobles plot to harness her fame and advance their own ambitions. In the shadows, assassins wait for a chance to strike.

Adelais makes a dangerous journey to the north, seeking to understand the prophecies that swirl around her. At the source of all rune magic, a place as ancient as time, she glimpses the chaos of a coming war.

The armies of Vriesland are on the march—thousands of spearmen and berserkers, inspired by the girl they call the Fate Weaver. But the Galman lords have gathered a vast army of their own, uniting behind a holy relic in the hands of Agnès de Fontenay.

As friends face off across the battlefield, as armored knights smash into shield-walls, as the gods themselves wrestle for power, Adelais must weave the fate of nations before all that she loves is destroyed.

The Rune Song Trilogy reaches its thrilling finale. An epic of intrigue, action, and Viking magic, Blood of Wolves is perfect for fans of Mark Lawrence, Andrzej Sapkowski, Robin Hobb, and Guy Gavriel Kay.

Wraps up the trilogy well!

Blood of Wolves concludes the Rune Song Trilogy with purposeful intentionality but it fails its own story a bit. I really enjoyed the beginning and ending of this book despite the middle half is a little tedious and uninteresting compared to Hammer of Fate and Runes of Battle. The highlights once again prove to be the characters (specifically the POVs of Taillefer and Gauthier) but Adelais’ storyline is the most uninteresting of the three books. She still has a part to play and we learn and grow with her in a few new ways, much of her storyline feels like filler or rehashing of previous concepts explored. I enjoyed that the dreaded war teased over the last two books finally shows itself but it never really feels as bombastic or exciting as I thought it would.

Regardless of my personal reservations, Gudgion works magic in the way that he implements effective writing, a balance of showing and telling, switching POVs, progression, action and tension. This trilogy was very enjoyable and worthwhile to read and I recommend it to anyone looking for a character-driven book series with deeply historical fantasy aspects.

Enjoyable

One of the things that the listening audience will appreciate about this book is the cadence that the narrator sets for the audience. He makes the storyteller's words feel like you are personally being told a story that enthralls the listener's mind to want to hear the words of the following chapter in this tale. This book is well-written and worth the credit.

Spectacular

Great ending to a series, not long winded, wraps the whole story in a bow of characterization, world build with magic and prejudices throughout!!
