Alex Hunter, code named Arcadian, wakes up with no knowledge of who he is, in the care of a woman he doesn't recognize, in a country not his own. But there is a calling deep within him, to return home to Black Mountain. Formed a billion years ago, the Appalachian's Black Mountain hosts a terrible legend. Only one elder remains to guard its long-forgotten, deadly secret and there is a fear that there is evil lurking again. Some hikers have gone missing, and the rescue team sent to search for them has not returned.
Meanwhile, in nearby Asheville, Professor Matt Kearns is drawn into the mystery of an ancient artifact recovered from the mountainside, and an image too grotesque to be real. A survivor is then found half-alive, covered in blood - blood revealed to be not quite human. Alex must confront an age-old enemy of man and discover the truth about his past, and confront the horror that stalks the frozen mountain, and also the one haunting his very soul.

My 4th Alex Hunter novel
but possibly my last. The action parts were great - the beginning and the last 3hrs but the middle section - 6hrs+ or so - moved very slowly for an Alex Hunter novel, in bits and spurts. Overall, not bad just a reminder I might be about done. Perhaps I’ll check out the Matt Kearn series first. I have enjoyed the earlier AH books and will probably reread/listen to them in the future. I like the performance by Sean Mangan.

Another One!(in DJ Khalid voice)
I love following the characters in these books and have found it hard to put the audio book down. The mythos is amazing, no one is safe from the brutality and you can relate to problems the characters face, and even be critical and say, "WTF?". Great book.

I love the character Alex Hunter
I must say greg beck never disappoints, I love his character Alex Hunter and I totally enjoy the the way his narrator Sean Mangan tells the story, I must own about 22 books from greg Beck plus the kindle and audibles as well, I will say this you will love the story

another good book in the series
I enjoyed the fourth book in the Alex Hunter series, and look forward to the next one. There are 2 storylines happening, that eventually converge into 1 storyline, I really enjoyed it, and will definitely read more by this author

I love all these Books soon much!
Fun and interesting books. Give you some paranormal, cryptids and military. I love how the author tells facts at the end.
