I love Jesus more!

Out of his personal, day to day, relating withJesus and his understanding of the Scriptures, John Eldridge insightfully describes several qualities of Jesus’ personality. I understand more of who Jesus is and I love Him more because of that. As I listened to John read his book, Beautiful Outlaw, I was able to see how being religious is not the same as having a relationship with Jesus. In fact, being religious prevents a right relationship with Jesus from developing. The book was delightful and sobering and all together refreshing! I am on my 3rd time through the book. It has motivated me to delve deeper into Scripture and be in continual communion with my Savior and Friend. Every believer will be blessed in reading this work.

Encouragement To Develope A Relationship With Jesus

I have been a Bible student and a "religious/spiritual" person for many many years but always felt lacking in the relationship. The words and expected behaviors were easy to say, but I couldn't feel the closeness that I craved. I started listening to this beautifully written thought provoking audible book during recovery from cervical spinal surgery. John Eldredge as author and narrator gave me peace and a new way of looking at the love, power and humility that our almighty God is as He arranged to save us from the ravages of sin that started wit the fall of Adam and Eve. As a mother, I could understand how this almighty creator actually chose to become a human being, born and had to learn from infancy all that we humans must learn to live on Earth and die as a human. I found myself drawing closer to Jesus and treasure the relationship that is offered. The rules of religion are not the most important thing in our lives. It's the relationship that builds our faith which can give us the peace and comfort we desire so much. Well done, John Eldredge! A human perspective but we are human. As I read the Bible more now, I see the daily living and love in action that Jesus was trying to teach us. It's not about the details whether everyone is right or misinformed. He gave us 2 commandments- Love aGod with our whole heart, mind and soul...Love one another. Then we fulfill the law. He made the sacrifice to give us the opportunity to be the best we could be daily.

Practical, real, and refreshing

His insights help remind us of how much we can relate to Christ and no one is out of his reach, unless we don’t want to be in his reach. He also gives great examples and instructions on how to let Christ help us recognize misbeliefs, heal our pain and gain new perspectives.

Just the book I needed

This book is perfect for me. I have not been part of any type of religion for many years now.For many years I was confused between the difference between religion and spirituality do to my upbringing. I have learned over the years the difference in this perk just reaffirms what I already believed. I love the way this book makes me feel so at ease about having a relationship with Jesus Christ.Thank you John for such a fantastic listen.

This book is a 5 star because like few others, the author has painted an authentic, relatable picture of Jesus as the One who is like no other I’ve known, and this truly has refreshed my soul. I am confident Jesus wants *me* to offer my little life to him daily, and to know him not only as Lord and Savior, but as my precious friend and constant companion. Thank you, John Eldredge, for writing this labor of love.
