Are your children curious about the world around them?
Do they love learning new things and sharing fun facts with their friends?
If so, they will love Awesome Fun Facts for Kids!
This book is filled with fascinating and surprising facts about everything from food and space to animals, famous people, and ingenious inventions. Kids will have a blast exploring the world through these exciting and entertaining tidbits of information.
Here are just a few things that children can learn from this book:
- Food: Did you know that in the near future, we will be eating foods made from insects? Across the world, scientists and food producers are studying what insects can be used and how to farm them.
- Earth and space: We often think of the Earth as round, but it is in fact flat at the North and South Poles, which makes it a shape called an Oblate Spheroid. So if you saw a side view of the Earth, it would have a flat bottom and top and bulge out sideways.
- Our body: Our ears don’t get a rest when we are sleeping, they are still on duty. This is probably a throwback to when we used to sleep outdoors and had to be aware of danger even when we were asleep.
- Inspirational people: As an eight-year-old, Jahkil Jackson decided that he wanted to help people in his native Chicago who were unable to get housing and were hungry. Astonishing at such a young age, he set up a social enterprise called Project I Am. Still only 15, Jahkil is continuing to help people in need.
- Ingenious inventions: The microwave oven was invented by accident after a scientist’s lunch was melted during another experiment. The first food to be tested in the microwave oven was popcorn.
With so much to discover, Awesome Fun Facts for Kids is the perfect book for young learners who love to explore the world around them.

Biomimicry is rapidly transforming life on earth. Biomimics study nature's most successful ideas over the past 3.5 million years, and adapt them for human use. The results are revolutionizing how materials are invented and how we compute, heal ourselves, repair the environment, and feed the world. Janine Benyus takes listeners into the lab and in the field with maverick thinkers as they: discover miracle drugs by watching what chimps eat when they're sick; learn how to create by watching spiders weave fibers; and many more examples.

We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

Birds, Jim Robbins posits, are our most vital connection to nature. They compel us to look to the skies, both literally and metaphorically, draw us out into nature to seek their beauty, and let us experience vicariously what it is like to be weightless. Birds have helped us in so many of our human endeavors: learning to fly, providing clothing and food, and helping us better understand the human brain and body.

In Mother Nature Is Trying to Kill You, Riskin is our guide through the natural world at its most gloriously ruthless. Using the seven deadly sins as a road map, Riskin offers dozens of jaw-dropping examples that illuminate how brutal nature can truly be.

Feathers are an evolutionary marvel: Aerodynamic, insulating, beguiling. They date back more than 100 million years. Yet their story has never been fully told. In Feathers, biologist Thor Hanson details a sweeping natural history, as feathers have been used to fly, protect, attract, and adorn through time and place. Applying the research of paleontologists, ornithologists, biologists, engineers, and even art historians, Hanson asks: What are feathers? How did they evolve? What do they mean to us?

engaging for kids
This book is an ideal educational resource, as it is both entertaining and informative. The short quizzes at the conclusion of each chapter are particularly noteworthy, as they test children's knowledge of what they have just read. Furthermore, the pauses and background music that accompany the questions allow parents to join in with their kids and make answering them a fun activity.

Fun and engaging fact book!
I really enjoyed this book, and the kids loved it too! I love how the chapters are split into interesting categories kids can relate to and understand. The facts are entertaining and educate your kids at the same time, I couldn’t ask for a better teaching tool! The short recap quizzes at the end of each chapter make this book stand out as they challenge kids to remember the facts. There are sufficient pauses and background music when the questions are asked, and you and your kids can answer them together, which I found very enjoyable.
Each topic in the book is completely different, which I found very good for keeping the kids interested, as we know kids can get bored quickly. The book wraps up with an all-rounder quiz which gives one final test and encourages you to go back and recall the questions you got wrong. Great family fun book!

Full of fun and interesting info!
I loved this book. Adults and children alike will learn a lot about our physical world, and it will help keep kids entertained and engaged. I enjoyed the fact that there is a quiz at the end of each section, as well as a "master quiz" at the end. This will help kids pay attention so that they will know the answers at the end of the chapter. I wasn't crazy about the music that played during the quiz, as I found it loud and a bit distracting, but that doesn't take away from the value of this fun and informative listen. Highly recommend!
