Spooky without being gory.

I have really enjoyed listening to these short stories. There’s a little bit of everything spooky without being all blood and gore. I love the idea of using up and coming authors to create a book for a good cause. It’s a win win for everyone I’m really looking forward to the next in the series.

Autumn Nights

Excellent pack of thirteen spooky stories to please anyone in the mood for a creepy read. Garrett Michael Brown did a great job narrating. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Mixed bag of spooky stories

There's some memorable stories mixed in with a few that were honestly difficult to get through. Narrator did a great job throughout them all though and made the most mundane ones at least tolerable. Pretty good buy for any Autumn/Halloween enthusiasts.

Exactly what you think it is

This is a good selection of short stories all with autumn as their commonality. Perfect for something non-committal or if you just want to invoke the feeling of fall.

Gruesome horror tales

This book contains tales of horror and mischief that will make sleep with the lights on. Some tales will make you scream at the characters or wish you could protect them. Some tales will make you not want to go into dark rooms alone. The tales are well written with strong storylines. I loved some of the characters while I wanted to use the rest for target practice. I highly recommend this book for the tales are creative and imaginative. I received this audio book for free at my request. I am leaving my honest review voluntarily of my own volition.

Loved it

Though with many short story books it’s usually a mix up of decent and not so great stories but with this one I truly enjoyed just about all of them there was only maybe one or two I didn’t get into that much, ninety percent of it was very good. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone looking for selection of spooky stories and side note none of the stories relied on heavy gore or sex. Just simply spooky fun tales. I was given this audio in exchange for honest review for free and I would definitely use a credit for it , well worth it.

Great for October!

I was so happy to get the chance to listen to this book during the month of October, though it would still be great any time of the year. It really put me in the mood with a spooky vibe. I can be pretty hard to please when it comes to short story compilation books, especially when they’re supposed to be spooky, but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one.

I can think of two stories I didn’t particularly care for, but it wasn’t that they weren’t good. Their setting and subject just weren’t of my interest, and therefor they lost it. Overall I think this is great book! And I would love to find some others that can match its standard. Will be listening again when next October rolls around.

Definitely worth the credit or the money! Get it!

mixture of spooky reads

Some stories were creepier than others and while they were all well written, I enjoyed the plots of some stories much better than others. It's not unusual for me to enjoy 95% of a short story but then feel kind of let down by the ending. In this collection, there were a few stories that were like that for me - mostly very spooky and/or compelling but with endings that were like limp lettuce. So, the reason why I gave four stars and not five for this review was because of that.

There was a common element that linked all of the stories together, which was and interesting way to connect the stories in this collection. The execution of this common-thread idea was uneven, but it was a charming surprise nevertheless (think along the lines of televised baking competition shows, where the producers suddenly tell the baker-competitors that they must use beets as an ingredient in their Hallowe'en-themed cupcakes.)

My three favourite stories (no particular order) were: Location #23, My Own Dark Way, and Courting Death.

The narration was good, except for some of the female character voices (I've rarely come across narrators who can do other-gender voices authentically, though).

Nice collection of not too scary spooky stories

I requested a free copy of this collection and was not disappointed at all. The stories had more of a YA slant than I was expecting from the description (lots of teenagers having angsty relationships), but that was not a turn off for me. (Beware if teen stories aren't your cup of tea.) The narrator has a great "OMG teenage girl" voice and was really entertaining to listen to throughout the stories and the gamut of voices he adopted. The stories were spooky enough to be entertaining, but not so much that my 10 year old asked me to turn them off. I thought these were especially great for my kids.

Autumn Nights

A nice collection of short stories that lean more towards a young adult audience. They are well written, and some are a bit on spooky side for those that like their stories without gore and terror this collection is for you. As with any anthology there are stories that I liked more than others but as whole this was a decent listen. Narrator Garrett Michael Brown does a good job of pulling the listener into the story.
