Acerca de esta escucha

If you're skeptical about changing society's discriminatory treatment of people with dwarfism and other disabilities, Van Etten offers hope with these words: "Advocacy makes change possible when people call out what is wrong, care enough to stand up for what is right, commit to the cause for as long as it takes, and have confidence in God's power to change hearts".

Van Etten repeatedly demonstrates the power of advocacy in this audiobook. Titans of industry are now required to lower ATMs, gas pumps, and elevator buttons to be within reach of people previously ignored. Public transportation must be accessible. Cheering crowds applauding dwarf tossing contests are silenced. Many homeowners, school children, and volunteer leaders enjoy equal access, respect, and civility.

Listen to this audiobook and be inspired to advocate for the changes you - and others - need. It can be done.

No Romanticism, No Pity, Just Working It Out

Angela Muir Van Etten's audiobook is a real eye opener. You get to know Angela through her words and, even better, to enjoy her distinctive New Zealand accent and she reads her story. Angela details her struggles inside and outside the disabled community and doesn't white wash the challenges she and other Little People face as individuals and as a group as they coalesce to bring about societal changes and remove architectural barriers that most of us never even see.

After reading Angela's book, you will never look at another Little Person and not see them as a human being - more like you than different. Angela is not shy about crediting her faith as it reinforces her commitment to change. But, I want to know more about what goes into the mix -- what in her upbringing makes her so strong; what makes her happy and sad; and how does she manage to climb into a hotel bed than can be as high as her chest level? I am really looking forward to her next book - I know this is the last book in a trilogy but it can't be the last one she writes! Keep on keeping on Angela!
