I wasn't ready for this collection when first I pu
I first purchased this collection of stories a number of months ago. I tried to get through the first few stories, but I lost interest. I picked it up again two weeks ago or so, and just finished the end of it. I do most of my listening while I'm driving and puttering around in my office.
I was living in Japan at the time of the earthquake, and returned to the United States a few months after. I had lived in Japan for 18 years. the stories all rang true for me.
the only thing that bothered me about the stories was that he never seems to have a satisfying ending. he seems to intentionally leave the story open-ended.
once I accepted that, it was much easier to get my head and heart around the stories. this is a collection of stories that I will probably go back to again.

A short story collection full of wonder and magic
This book would have been worth the price of admission if the last story were all there were to it, but each story is unique and captivating. The regular change of narrator also adds a certain freshness to each reading.
