Acerca de esta escucha
The world knows well the tale of Tevye, the beloved Jewish dairyman from the shtetl Anatevka of Tsarist Russia. In stories originally written by Sholem Aleichem and then made world-famous in the celebrated musical Fiddler on the Roof, Tevye, his wife Golde, and their five daughters dealt with the outside influences that were encroaching upon their humble lives. But what happened to those remarkable characters after the curtain fell?
In After Anatevka, Alexandra Silber picks up where Fiddler left off. Second-eldest daughter Hodel takes center stage as she attempts to join her socialist-leaning fiancé Perchik at the outer reaches of a Siberian work camp. But before Hodel and Perchik can finally be together, they both face extraordinary hurdles and adversaries - both personal and political - attempting to keep them apart at all costs. A love story set against a backdrop of some of the greatest violence in European history, After Anatevaka is a stunning conclusion to a tale that has gripped audiences around the globe for decades.
BONUS CONTENT: Following the conclusion of the novel, listen to After Anatevka: Live, recorded at the Minetta Lane Theatre in NYC in August 2018. The event features excerpts from the novel, as well as music written by a collection of Broadway composer and lyricist teams. For more information, visit www.audible.com/AnatevkaLive.

The central character, Tevye the milkman, goes around the community in the Russian countryside delivering milk and cheese, but also dispensing wisdom from the Talmud laced with his commonsense view of life. Sergey and Marina Dyachenko mix dramatic scenes with romance, action and wit, in a style both direct and lyrical. Written with a sure artistic hand, The Scar is the story of a man driven by his own feverish demons to find redemption and the woman who just might save him. Egert is a brash, confident member of the elite guards and an egotistical philanderer. But after he kills an innocent student in a duel, a mysterious man known as “The Wanderer” challenges Egert and slashes his face with his sword, leaving Egert with a scar that comes to symbolize his cowardice.

Historia
From Louisa May Alcott's beloved classic Little Women, Geraldine Brooks has animated the character of the absent father, March, and crafted a story "filled with the ache of love and marriage and with the power of war upon the mind and heart of one unforgettable man" (Sue Monk Kidd). With "pitch-perfect writing" (USA Today), Brooks follows March as he leaves behind his family to aid the Union cause in the Civil War. His experiences will utterly change his marriage and challenge his most ardently held beliefs.

Amazing
The only uncertainty is as to whether the writing or the performance is better: simply brilliant by all accounts.
Alexandra Silber is a “seldom in a lifetime” talent whose abilities behind the

Thank you for the continuance
I have loved “Fiddler” since I was in my early teens, some 40 years ago. I’ve often wondered what might have happened to the characters I fell in love with. This was a beautiful way to wind all the stories into a finale. Thank you for the performance and the telling of a tale so very worth sharing

Beautiful and moving
This was so deeply heartfelt in its writing and performance, if you aren't moved, you must be dead inside. You get an occasional glimpse into some of the other characters from FOTR, but this is Hoedel and Percheck's story and it is a tragic, beautiful, joyous one.

Great sequel to Fiddler on the Roof
If you liked Fiddler on the Roof, then this is a natural sequel. This is a well-written novel by an actress who played Hodel; it is the story of Hodel after she leaves on the train to find Perchik. The audio version is especially nice because at the end is a recording of a performance of excerpts and new songs written for this story.

Great story
Overall I really loved this book. I haven’t gotten this emotionally wrapped up in a book since the Harry Potter series. Very historically accurate and such a soaring love story in the background of a grim Siberia. While I love all the characters she creates, there are a few things I found odd. 1. She gives Hodel an accent but not many of the other characters. !SPOILER AHEAD! After the death of a major character, I don’t feel like the book wrapped up emotionally. My heart was still bleeding from the death and the book wrapped up a page or two later. So that was very disappointing as a reader to have that left unresolved. !END OF SPOILER! But overall it’s a great book and worth the journey

Brilliant writing, exquisite performance.
Alexandra Silber is a writer of extraordinary talent and searing intelligence. What she has imagined from what must have been exhaustive research is an uncompromising, wrenching, and devastatingly courageous account of what it must have been like in a time and place in history too often ignored. After Anatevka is a worthy descendant of the Sholom Aleichem stories that inspired them, written the majesty of a voice of startling authenticity and originality. And Silber’s performance of her own work is exquisite and indelible, as unusual for an author as it is exceptional even for an actress of great stature, which Silber also unquestionably is.

Great narration but had difficulty with the story
This was a great, creative idea--To take part of the Fidler family and move the story line forward. However, I have mixed reviews.
The narration was great. However the story line had too many flashes back and forward and too many characters. Also, although I know the story line had to include dialogues about pre-Soviet politics in Russia, I would have preferred a little less of that--It wasn't the reason I downloaded the book.

Mix of boring & depressing
I love the Fiddler on the roof, but finishing this book has been very hard for me, It is a mix of a boring and a depressing story… It is mostly about Perchik’s youth, with a bunch of Hodel’s boring memories & just a few interesting moments… Overall depressing… I would advice Hodel never to take that train to Siberia!

If you are looking for what happened to the family this isn’t it....
I guess I had hoped that although the story focused on Hodel and Perchick we would get news of the rest of the family through letters etc. Got through the first half before giving up on this book. One reviewer said the book was a mix of ups and downs....I disagree and found the book to be all down. There was so much effort put into political speeches etc that it really seemed to have little or nothing to do with the original story. The flashbacks did not seem to me to match the original characters.
The narrator just didn’t have the Russian accent down and to me her effort made the characters sound like they had an Asian accent. Her delivery was often flat and monotone.
I’m sorry this book did not meet my expectations and I hope others will not be as disappointed as I was.
