Richard Freiherr von Rosen was a highly decorated Wehrmacht soldier and outstanding panzer commander. After serving as a gunlayer on a Pz.Mk.III during Barbarossa, he led a company of Tigers at Kursk. Later he led a company of King Tiger panzers at Normandy and in late 1944 commanded a battle group (12 King Tigers and a flak company) against the Russians in Hungary in the rank of junior, later senior lieutenant (from November 1944, his final rank). Only 489 of these King Tiger tanks were ever built.

A Must Read
Guderian breaks down early tank warfare in this book in detail that I haven’t seen bettered. The narrator did an excellent job I thought and I can only give this book my highest recommendation.

A Modern Clausewitz
Guderian is highly readable and so well educated on this topic. As a leader or even THE leader in the development of tank warfare, this book is an important read for anyone hoping to understand this aspect of modern warfare. Most highly recommended.

A lesson in common sense.
Use your tanks to blow up the enemy. Make sure you've got some smooth surface. Don't let them run out of ammo or fuel. Keep mechanics handy. Solved!

Not the WWII Tank Book I Expected
This was a bit of a letdown for those expecting an in-depth focus on World War II. Instead, the book primarily discusses World War I, with only brief touches on the evolution of tank warfare. Rather than a detailed look at tanks in action, much of the content revolves around how to use tanks effectively in strategy. While the book is valuable for understanding the origins of tank tactics, it didn’t satisfy my hopes for WWII-specific insights. Still, it offers an important look at the groundwork laid for modern armored warfare.
