Judge not (lest ye find yourself in a similarly unthinkable situation)
The first time I heard about Accidentally Brave, I was viscerally appalled. How could a person be okay with the knowledge that her supposedly upstanding husband and father to their three children had secretly downloaded child pornography? Then I actually dug into her memoir-slash-one-woman-play, in which she very deliberately notes that while she is most certainly not okay with her husband’s crime, she does find it necessary to tell her truth (spoiler: didn’t divorce him). Even without the utterly unputdownable pace and plot of this listen, what propels the narrative is the question: what if this happened to me? How would I react if the father of my two wonderful kids—to whom he’s heretofore only been a wonderful parent—was revealed to have a very, very dark side? Would I burn it all down? It’s these questions, paired with Maddie Corman’s urgent, honest storytelling, that will keep you glued to your earphones from the moment you hit "play."
About the Creator and Performer
Maddie Corman’s career began when she appeared in the seminal ‘80s movies Seven Minutes in Heaven and Some Kind of Wonderful. Maddie was a series regular on Mr. President, All American Girl and Almost There. She had guest/recurring roles including Law & Order (all three), Curb Your Enthusiasm, Damages, The Good Wife, Person of Interest, Nurse Jackie, Girls, Divorce, Odd Mom Out, When We Rise, High Maintenance, Younger and Madame Secretary. Her films include Wonderwheel; 5 Flights Up; Peace, Love & Misunderstanding; Morning Glory; Ira & Abby; What Happens in Vegas; I Think I Do; Ford Fairlane; and Swingers. Maddie will play Lady Aberlin to Tom Hanks’ Mr. Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. She will appear on Broadway in Picnic and Off-Broadway in The Babylon Line; Appropriate; Love, Loss and What I Wore. Emotional and Powerful!
Maddie is the definition of strength. She told this reality so openly and beautifully. I think everyone should listen to this as a way to understand how to show up in the world for yourself, and the people around you. I even picked up some parenting nuggets. 🫶🏻

Powerful and Encouraging

Thank you Maddie Corman! There are so many of us silently suffering because of sexual addictions, sexual affairs , pornography and any type of sexual brokenness. These categories are so taboo in our society. You are a fierce and brave soul to bring it into the Light. I listened...I cried with you (and believe it or not was able to laugh a bit)
as I continue to work through my own pain of my husbands infidelities throughout our marriage. No one should have to go through this type of pain and yet so many of us do. As Maya Angelou said...”And still I rise”.
Thank you so much for being a strong voice with the Hope that there can be healing for the betrayed, the unfaithful and the marriage.

Brave and beautiful

Powerfully Brave
Maggie Corman tells her story and allows the listener to feel like she's telling it directly to you, beautifully, emotionally, as if she's your new wise mentor.
To me, this amazing performance is a way of "paying forward" the compassion and guidance she received from someone who reached out to help her.
