The first lie I told myself was that he was just an old friend. I wish it had been the only lie, because the other lies would destroy us all.

I close my eyes as I hear him speak. I take one very long and deep breath hoping to calm the immediate butterflies that take flight in my stomach and hope to slow down the racing of my heart. The voice was slightly deeper, but the timbre was one that was achingly familiar.

My actions did little to help, but then who was I kidding? A deep breath wasn't going to fix the effect he had on me and my body's inevitable reaction. Even the memories that would forever haunt me couldn't keep my emotions from triggering at the nearness of him once again.

I used to pray that I'd find the strength to move on from him, from the pain that the end carried, from the emptiness in my chest, but ultimately move on from the loss of Creed Sullivan and the death of his sister, Cora.

The Sullivans had been the best part of my summers in New England.

Deep down, I always knew my ache for all that I had lost was the reason I returned...but I hadn't expected to see him again - especially not like this.

Lost love

This story was actually pretty cute. It did take some time to get to point, however it was worth the wait. Story line came together and it was beautiful sad and sweet!

Good but the ending…

The story overall was cute and had a bit of emotional depth like all abbi glines books, the ending to me lacked. The twist/cliffhanger was definitely a good one and had the epilogue not been there I was have been devastated but it ended to quickly after. I wish we had got to see more of the after and an epilogue into the future since it bounces back from the past to present tense. A future glimpse would have been more fulfilling. Overall a good book.

Amazing! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read

This is my first Abby Glines book and I loved this lost love, angsty romance. This story is not for the faint of heart but for someone who loves two soulmates getting their happy ending.

Emotional

Second time listening to this audible and still enjoyed it. Young love encompassing loss of a loved one, grief, some tears, lack of communication, assumptions, light angst, and no drama.
Creed and Sailor do get a HEA.

not a fan of this story line. wasn't crazy about the narration. to mono toned and flat.

Boring with a capital B

Not sure I've ever finished listening to an entire book that bored me this much before. Story was very simple, pretty much zero plot, subplots had absolutely no meat. Narration was good though. Normally it's the complete opposite.

The storyline was underwhelming and didn’t really have a lot of substance. Plot seemed hollow and very cookie-cutter-like.

The performance made the book even worse. The reader’s voice was grating whether speaking as the female character or the male character. Awful.
