More Barsoomian goodness

To be perfectly honest, it took me a little while to warm to this book. I found it a little off-putting to see Dejah Thoris as anything Short of her normal, quite formidable, self. Here she was the Martian equivalent of a young woman of her late teens and not nearly as self possessed as she would eventually become. To be fair, she progressed a good deal closer to her later form by the end of this story. I would gladly sign up for more of her adventures.

The second story, is a bit closer to the typical Barsoomian fare, with John Carter, Carthoris, and introducing his son to the mix. Good stuff all around.
