Given this is an audiobook, you can listen to various pieces in context as well as learning about the evolution of military music and the historical significance of the pieces that you hear.
The audiobook covers the evolution of military music from its inception during the Revolutionary Wars, through to the Napoleonic Wars, and culminating with the First World War. Pieces covered include both Europe and America. This book gives you an opportunity to learn more about military bands and the composers that wrote for them. It's a great introduction to the history of military music, with plenty of example pieces that bring the book to life.
