Acerca de esta escucha

Number one New York Times best seller

One of the greatest minds of our time explores profound questions such as: How did the universe begin — and what made its start possible? Does time always flow forward? Is the universe unending — or are there boundaries? Are there other dimensions in space? What will happen when it all ends?

Told in language we all can understand, A Brief History of Time plunges into the exotic realms of black holes and quarks, of antimatter and “arrows of time,” of the big bang and a bigger God — where the possibilities are wondrous and unexpected. Stephen Hawking brings us closer to the ultimate secrets at the very heart of creation.

Intense thought required!

What did you love best about A Brief History of Time?

It was very well written and kept my interest. I did not read more than one chapter at time, because it really does require concentration. After all,, the subject is the entire universe. I also enjoyed the discussions of how creation may or may not fit into the story of the universe.

awesome narrator

could I ever be smart enough to doubt what Stephen Hawking says? Lol I don't think so... but the narrator is awesome! I will look him up and the books he narrates! first of all he is called Michael Jackson! secondly he chuckles when he reads the funny parts! I loved it. made for a fun read!

A load of dingo’s kidneys

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is a far better book on astrophysics.

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanished in a puff of logic.

"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

Most leading theologians claim that this argument is a load of dingo's kidneys, but that didn't stop Stephen Hawking from making a small fortune when he used it as the central theme of his best selling book 'A brief history of time.’

Glad I finally got to get through

I’m really impressed and surprise how digestible This was. I had an impression That it was going to be pretty heady stuff it turned out to be quite accessible and I am grateful for Steven’s effort and explaining this in laments terms. Much more like Carl Segan or Neil Degrasse Tyson than I would have guessed

It still doesn't discount God

Very deep and impacted. Extraordinary glimpse into the mind of a genius. I think it shows that physics and religion are attempting to explain the same thing.

Perfect overview of space down to atoms.

I'm walking away with a great sense of the universe. its size, the dimensions, fuel, to say the least.

basically I heard that the universe is in explosion and energy creation right now. eventually it will shift to energy breakdown. when it does that life will cease. time is relative to who you are and where you are located in space. space is infinite and in a stage of growth. but it will not always be that.

there are many theories that govern our understanding of the universe. next I want to learn about stars and energy.
